The final push came at midnight. Sarah joined them, armed and fierce. Every corridor in their home became a battleground.
Aziel returned, wounded but wild. His men followed, high on the newest strain of Greensmoke. They felt no pain. They feared no death.
Adam fought through exhaustion. Cesar was shot in the arm but kept going. Koji, barely able to walk, managed to rig the central generator as a trap.
Koji (to Adam): "If they breach the gate... blow it."
Adam: "That kills everyone."
Koji: "Then die free."
The gates fell.
Adam kissed Sarah once. Hard. Final.
Adam: "Get him out. Take Cesar. Use the tunnels."
Sarah: "What about you?!"
Adam: "I’ll stay. Someone has to light the match."
He locked the inner gate behind them.
Outside, Aziel screamed, leading the charge.
Aziel: "We end it NOW!"
Adam (to himself): "Then let it end."
He pressed the trigger.
The explosion tore through the district. A mushroom cloud of fire and dust swallowed the night. It was seen for miles.
The aftermath was silence.
Bodies buried in ash. Buildings erased. But from the ruins, Sarah and Cesar crawled out.
No words.
Only the letter Adam had left behind.
Adam (V.O., final letter): "If you’re reading this... I’m gone. But that means you survived. That means I did what I was meant to. Let the world burn behind us, as long as you walk forward. Tell them who we were. And never forget: we held the line."
Sarah placed the letter in a tin box, buried it beneath the flowers.
The smoke rose. But this time, it didn’t choke. It cleared.
