Regina returned to the hotel. The important figures from the daytime had all dispersed. Seeing her, Auriel immediately approached.
“Regina, today was quite the drama!”
“What happened, Auriel?” Regina asked, puzzled.
“Ms. Carlson fired Anna, your replacement, but Mr. Ryan was later asking about the whereabouts of the original cellist.”
Regina, unconcerned with whether Mr. Ryan was looking for her, anxiously asked, “Is Anna really going to be fired?”
Auriel, worried by Regina’s concern for others, exclaimed, “Mr. Ryan didn’t say he wanted her fired, so I won’t fire her! Don’t you understand? Mr. Ryan is impressed with your playing style! I tried to find replacements, but he could tell it wasn’t you!”
