The night of the agreement was bright with moonlight.
"The last time, this is the sixth chance. If it doesn't work out, I'll take care of it myself!"
Gideon's long legs were draped over the coffee table, with a girl clinging to him, feeding him fruit. In front of him was a bartender being interviewed, juggling cups in the air as if performing acrobatics.
Ajay said, "Brother, didn't you say you'd only give three chances last time?"
Gideon threw a grape at him.
"If you had been more competitive, would we even be at four, five, or six chances? And you still dare to bring it up!"
Ajay dodged with a sly twist of his waist and deliberately pressed the button again, "Besides, brother, I don't think you can beat him."
Gideon crooked his fingers, "Have I been too kind to you lately... Come here, you little fucker!"
Ajay ran back and accidentally knocked down the bartender.
"Hey!" Glass cups fell and shattered into pieces. That girl and Selena sat on the sofa and giggled.
Gideon kicked Ajay in the butt, "Back in the day when I was ruling the streets, you were still suckling at your mother's breast!"
The phone on the table buzzed twice.
Selena grabbed it, glanced at the screen, and said, "My ride's here. Time for me to go."
"Wait a moment." Gideon adjusted his coat. "I'll go with you."
"No."
Very decisive.
Gideon tried to act as if he was bothered by Selena's blunt refusal, but no one played along.
Standing in the middle of the private room, he snapped his fingers twice before the girl, who was scrolling through her phone on the sofa, looked up at him. Gideon asked sincerely, "Tell me, as a boss, am I sometimes too easygoing?" The girl blinked her eyes, offering a professional smile designed for customers, quite beautiful, but it was clear she had no idea what he was talking about.
Selena said, "I found this person, just wait for the good news."
Gideon said, "At least let me take a look." He walked up to Selena, his tall figure casting a shadow. He took Selena's hand, placed it on his chest, and said sincerely, "My sunshine, my lucky little pumpkin, please comfort Brother Gideon's heart that was broken by five failures, okay?"
"..."
Selena reluctantly curled her lips, "Fine."
Under the streetlight two meters away, Dane was the only one standing, still dressed in typical attire.
Gideon looked at him for a while, then put his arm around Selena's shoulder and turned his back.
He said word by word: "Did you just find a high school kid?"
Selena made an OK gesture, "Don't worry, he can fight."
"What are you thinking!" Gideon tightened his arms, and Selena's arm turned red from being squeezed. "It's obvious he's underage. If he's crippled by two punches, we'll be in trouble!"
"I asked, he's an adult."
"Even if he's an adult, this——"
"I said don't worry." Selena interrupted him.
Gideon looked at her solemnly for a while, then bent down to whisper in her ear, "Does he also have special powers?"
Selena: "..."
Gideon knew she had other tricks up her sleeve; he'd known for a long time, but his brain, soaked in smoke and alcohol, didn't concern itself with such matters. He never analyzed what made her different from ordinary people, just generally summarizing it as "special powers."
"Just consider he has," Selena said.
"That's fine." He reluctantly accepted it, but his eyes were still fixed on her. Selena thought he still had doubts, but unexpectedly, he suddenly said, "You look pretty from this angle.Did you put on makeup?"
Selena gave a sarcastic look and responded, "Thanks, from this angle, I can see every wrinkle around your eyes."
Gideon: "I'm almost fifty. Isn't it normal to have some wrinkles? Can it be the same as when you were in your twenties?"
Selena: "Your wrinkles have nothing to do with your age. You just make too many expressions."
Gideon took a deep breath to calm.
Selena stretched out her hand: "Car keys."
"One by one! off the leash! I can't f*****g rein them in anymore!" Gideon threw the keys to her. "Fine! Go with the guy!"
Selena passed by Dane and said briefly, "Follow me."
...
The road was a bit congested at night.
The car was very quiet; Selena didn't have the habit of playing music, and Dane stretched out, nestling in the passenger seat.
Selena noticed his lack of energy from the corner of her eye. Although she knew that his chance of losing was infinitely close to zero, she still seized the opportunity of a red light and said, "Shall we cheer up a bit?"
He hummed.
Selena: "The opponent is not on the same level as Fat Tiger, so don't underestimate them."
Dane: "Are you really worried that I will lose?"
Selena: "I’m not. I just want to remind you that you only have one chance. If you miss it, your suspension may be exposed in broad daylight."
"..."
Dane slowly sat up. He turned his whole body to look at her, his expression not good.
"You threatened me."
"No," Selena shrugged, "It's just a friendly reminder, please be more professional."
At the green light, Dane turned to look out the window again.
The car drove for almost an hour and stopped next to an old construction site. It was very desolate here, especially after the car was turned off, the unfinished buildings were like the wreckage of giant flying objects exposed in the night, making it even more lonely.
Dane closed the car door and looked around the desolate spot. Selena turned off the engine and came to his side.
Several figures emerged from the darkness in the distance.
"The one in front," Selena whispered, "You can see it clearly."
Dane narrowed his eyes.
They were dozens of meters apart. There were no streetlights here, and it was pitch black, but the wolf's eyes pierced the night. He carefully observed the man with the crew cut. He was about thirty years old, quite plain in both clothing and appearance, not tall, and had a sturdy and strong body.
The most striking thing was his demeanor...
He was silent, resolute, and his eyes showed determination.
Dane's brow furrowed gradually.
Selena, seeing his expression, asked softly, "What's wrong?"
"It's a bit troublesome," he said.
"What does it mean?"
"This kind of person is not easy to deal with."
