“Sometimes, instead of being hurt, you should look at betrayal as a gift. It makes it that much easier to sweep it up and toss it out with the rest of the trash. And why is that you ask? Because trash starts to stink…and when it does, it has no more value in your life.” – Donna Schoenrock
Alpha Peter
After our meal, we say goodnight to the warriors, and go back to where Gabriella and Sarah are staying.
I link Jaxon and Neil to hang out of sight and secure the cottage. I need to ensure my daughter and wife are safe at all times. I watch as my mate and daughter walk in front, chatting away about the sights they’ve seen, and what other hikes they have planned.
Sarah hangs back with me along with Arabelle.
“Alpha?”
I look to my right, “Yes Sarah.”
“It’s bad, isn’t it?”
“What are you referring to?” I ask nonchalantly.
“Alpha, as the future Beta of the Sunset Pack, it is my duty to protect my alpha.”
“And which Alpha are you referring to, future beta? I know you view yourself as Gabriella’s protector, but until I pass over the pack it is still my job to be the one who protects my daughter.” I say, as Sarah stares at me, a little shocked. I smile internally, and my wolf sighs as he links, “Be kind to her, she does not know we know her gift.”
“I know Henry, but it’s fun.” I close the link with my wolf, as we continue towards the cottage.
“Arabelle, can you do a cloaking spell for us tonight?”
“Of course, Alpha. When would you like me to start?”
I think for a moment, “Now would be good, please be sure to include the patio, and areas surrounding the cottage. Also, include Neil and Jaxon.”
Arabelle nods, and disappears from sight. I link Niki to tell her what’s going on. She stops Gabriella as Sarah and I approach.
“What’s going on Dad?” Gabriella asks.
“Arabelle is cloaking our location, to ensure our privacy for the night. Afterall, we don’t want any uninvited guests. Speaking of uninvited guests, what’s going on Gabby? I thought it was just going to be you and Sarah on this trip.” Before I could finish my statement, my mate links me “Sh*t, now you’ve opened pandoras box my love.”
My daughter squares her shoulders, and faces me directly, “Funny you mention that father. Let’s revisit the uninvited guest’s topic, and remind you that YOU INVITED NEIL AND JAXON TO CRASH MY TRIP.”
I let out my aura, “Daughter, you’re forgetting to whom you are speaking. I am the Alpha, and parent in this scenario. I will do what I have to, to ensure the safety of my daughter, and the future of my pack.”
Gabriella lets out her aura, Henry whines as it starts to affect us, and links, “F*ck Peter, stop pissing her off.”
I don’t let her know how affected I am, “Lets go inside, Arabelle should be done by now.”
Gabriella backs off, I see Niki and Sarah immediately relax. I link both Niki and Sarah to ensure they are ok as we walk towards the door. Before I get to the door handle, it opens suddenly, and out walks Arabelle.
“Everyone ready?” Arabelle says with a smile.
“I don’t even know what’s going on.” Gabriella says as she walks into her cottage suite.
I let Sarah enter next, as I turn towards my mate, I feel her arms wrap around my waist, “My love, what we’re about to tell our daughter is going to cause her great pain. She was lied to for years. We need to be supportive, and not rub in her face that she was not able to see what was before her eyes.”
“Niki, my mate and wife, do you think so little of me? Do you think that I would do that to our daughter?”
I step out of her embrace, and walk inside not waiting for a response. Niki links, “I’m sorry my love.”
I stopped to wait for her, and once she catches up to me, I pull her in for a kiss. Then we both hear, “Mom and Dad!!!! No one wants to see that.”
My wife and I both laugh. Niki turns to our daughter, “Oh Gabby, once you meet your mate, your tune will change.”
“Alpha, Luna, will you please join us? I think this conversation would go best if we are all seated.” Arabelle says.

“Will someone please tell me what is going on now? Is it the pack, did something happen?” I say looking at my parents and Arabelle.
My parents share a look, I glance at Sarah who looks just as interested as I am, and find Arabelle looking at me with a smile.
“Sweetheart, how has your trip neem so far?” My mom says to me.
I look over at Sarah, and mind link her, “seems like they’re avoiding my questions.”
She smiles at me, and I turn back to my parents.
“It’s been good, we’ve gone to the beach, hiking, and saw a few waterfalls. Now let’s cut to the chase Mom and Dad. Why did you have Arabelle teleport you here?”
Arabelle, shifts in her seat, “How are you feeling?”
“Truth be told, I’m starting to get freaking annoyed. Why are my questions being evaded or just plain ignored?”
“Alpha, Luna, what Gabriella is trying to convey, is that it appears you’re fishing for an answer. Would it be beneficial to ask the question directly, so we can get to a solution quicker?” Sarah asks.
My Father stands up, walks to the kitchenette and opens the fridge. “Anyone want water.”
“Sure dad, why don’t you bring everyone some.” I say.
“Gabriella, Arabelle asked you how you were feeling since you’ve been in Hawaii. I am curious to know the answer.” My father says as he walks back towards the couches.
I sit back, and hear Penny link me “Gabs, let’s just be honest. I’m curious where this is going.”
“Dad, I don’t know, relaxed, I guess. I mean when we went hiking, I felt at peace. Why? Has Sarah told you I’ve been stressed? It was just finals, I mean I know we’re going to finish our Alpha training, but I’m not worried about that.”
“Gabby, mom found something at your condo when she and Linda were finishing up.” My dad says.
“Mom, what is dad talking about?”
“Baby, remember when we first got here, and showed you the chain?” my mom asks.
“Ya, it belongs to Matt.”
“Gabs why don’t you call Matt, and ask him to join us.” Arabelle says.
“Alpha, I’ll do it.” Sarah gets up, and grabs her phone from the table. She finds his information, and puts it on speaker phone. It goes to voicemail.
“I’ll just call him.” I dial Matts, number, and it also goes to voicemail. I hear Sarah in the background, calling to over to the main desk, asking for the room number for Matt. I try calling him again, and I leave a message asking him to call me as soon as he can.
Sarah walks back to the couch, and sits.
“They have no record of Matt of checking in, or even having a reservation.” Sarah says.
Before I can speak, my mom asks Arabelle if she can go back to the pack and bring four more warriors. My father is on the phone, calling his beta, Pat, instructing him to have two trackers, and two of our best fighters be waiting for Arabelle. Before I can speak Arabelle teleports out of the cottage.
“What the hell is going on? Why isn’t anyone answering my questions?” I get up and begin to pace. My mother walks over to me, and stands in front of me pulling me in to an embrace.
“Gabriella, come sit with, your father and I will tell you what we found.” She leads me around to the couch, and sits on the coffee table in front of me.
“Alpha, Luna, I will give you some privacy. I will clean my room, so you will have a place to sleep tonight. I will stay on the couch. Housekeeping will be coming momentarily to change the sheets.” Sarah says, as she exits the room.
“So, are you guys staying the night?” I ask as I see my father nod his head yes.
“Baby girl, we need to talk about Matt.” My mother says as she grabs my hands to hold. My father pulls out Matts chain, and hands it to me and asks, “Gabriella, do you know what this does?”
“What are you talking about dad? I said its Matt’s chain. He must have left it at my house.”
“Honey, when Linda and I were at the condo finishing up the last of the boxes, there was a commotion with some of the warriors.”
“Who was it Mom? What happened?”
“Gabs, everyone is fine, no one was injured. Funny enough, when holding the necklace, we could not feel Ross’ wolf.”
“Mom, I can feel Denise, what are you talking about?”
My dad interjects, “It’s because Arabelle removed the dark magic surrounding it, and has cloaked the cottage.”
“What do you mean dark magic. Why would there be dark magic? Matt isn’t from our world.” I say and look at both of my parents.
“Are you sure? What do you know about Matt?” my father asks.
What did I know about Matt, I mean we met at school, he was nice, we’ve been dating for the last two years. I haven’t met his family yet, and obviously he hadn’t met mine because of who my parents are. I need to get out of here. “Penny, we need to get out of here.”
I stand abruptly, “I need some air.” I say aloud, and run out the door. I hear both my parents call my name as I run out to the beach.
“Penny, we need to shift.”
“Gabby, we can’t yet, there is no cover, and someone might see us.”
I know she’s right, we run north, I recall there being more vegetation on our drive back from the hike. Tapping into Penny’s speed, we run. I block my parent’s minds links, and focus on where I’m going. I head towards Iao Valley, so I can shift and decompress.
“Penny there’s no one, lets shift.”
I allow Penny to come forward and shift. We wind through the trails in Iao Valley, and stop at a stream where Penny takes a drink. We lay down and take in our scenery.
“It really is beautiful here, Penny what are we going to do?”
“What would you like to do?”
We turn around, and see a beautiful woman, all of a sudden, I am standing next to Penny. “Who are you?”
“My name is Selene.”
“The moon Goddess?”
