3rd POV Vaylerix wiggled his fingers and made a fist and extended his fingers a few times before resting it on the arm rest. "So, you not just a highborn elf, you are also a dragon?" asked Mimi. "Yes, your majesty. Forgive me, let me start over. I am Vaylerix of the Hirithyn Clan. My father was a high born elf of the court. My mother was a silver dragon with an affinity for elves and humans. So I am a unique product of their commingled bloodlines. I am not from this realm or plane of existence. I only ended up here as a result of my magic leading me to my vixen," said Vaylerix gesturing to Laura. "Wait, Laura, does that mean that you are a dragon too?" said Seb.  "My little vixen's mysteries are her own, if she doesn't wish to share details, it is not my place to reveal or divulge a syllable," said Vaylerix in a commanding tone. Vaylerix points to Laura and said, "Mine!" He then points to Mimi and said, "Yours!" There was an awkward silence. Vaylerix cleared his throat and began again, "Back to the matter at hand. This evening, your majesty, you were attacked by a demon, a queen of an abysmal plane. But this dates back further than this evening. She is the reason that Max over there is grumpy all the time. Because he carries around an enormous amount of guilt and self-loathing because of the night the former queen, your mother, died.." "Vaylerix, don't try to cast me in a hero's light. My failure is why she is dead and we are here now," said Max in a snappish tone. "Max, you really need to let it go. You did everything in your power and capacity. Had you not acted as you did, when you did,  not only would the queen have perished, but the infant would have been lost as well. Even if you would have killed Lamashtu that night, it would only have banished her back to her plane for two millennia.  Her little escapade tonight may still have occurred regardless. You see, twenty-three years ago, just before your birth, Lamashtu attacked your mother, Kila. She was a faun and a dear friend. Little did we know that Lamashtu had grown jealous of the All-Mother, so much so, that she desired to destroy the All-Mother. She bided her time. She laid in wait for the most opportune moment to strike. The queen is only vulnerable when she is separated from her white knight. Somehow, she and her minions learned the identity of your father Johnathan Keen. He was lured away and once the queen was parted from her white knight, Lamashtu struck. She did not count on Max and my vixen being as strong as they are. They were not able to save Kila, but they managed to save you. I felt the disturbance in the ley lines as I did today, and I came like I was responding to a distress call. Lamashtu struck the queen with a focused fire attack, Laura reacted as quickly as she could, but it was not fast enough to deflect the full force of the fire. The queen realizing she was under attack, transferred all her power and strength to the baby, and she was burnt to a crisp. Her knight died the instant she did. Max jumped in and retrieved the infant from the charred remains of the queen. Lamashtu fired again at Max, he was gravely injured by the blast. But despite his injury he was able to grab you and run away to safety and hand you off to me. He returned to Laura and who was busy fighting back Lamashtu. I opened a portal to the one of the largest and most isolated states in America, Montana," Vaylerix said.  He paused briefly and conjured himself a glass of water and took a drink. "So that is how I ended up in the care of the Carraways with no record of my birth parents," said Mimi quietly. Vaylerix nodded, sighed and continued, "Yes, your majesty, I brought you to a fire station where people can drop off children; no questions asked. The Carraways were there volunteering. I scanned their minds. They were good people, unable to have children of their own. They took it as a sign from their god that you came to them that night. So after I knew you were safe, in order to protect you from future assaults, I took a big risk and cast a spell so that I would forget your location. Sadly, the spell worked a little too well and I forgot more than I had intended; I forgot why I was even in this dimension. So, I opened a portal and went back to my plane of origin. A little less than a week ago I left my ancestral home, I opened a portal without setting a destination, when I stepped through the magic had sent me to Great Falls, Montana of all places. Another unwelcome demon from my past approached me."  He took the parchment scroll from his cloak and tossed it to Max. Max unrolled the scroll and began to study it. "Good heavens, man, Rochelle dared approach you again? Didn't she learn the last time? Doesn't that insatiable succubus understand the meaning of the word 'no?'" asked Max. "Much to my chagrin, the skanky slutwich caught me unawares while my guard was down and pressed up against me from behind," muttered Vaylerix in disgust.  There was an uncomfortable pause. Once more, Vaylerix cleared his throat. "We will come back to the scroll later. Unfortunately, it took my vixen's pain and anguish over today's attack to bring me here, and recover my memories. Which I suspect was your doing, since it is within the power of the All-mother," Vaylerix said looking to Mimi. Another uncomfortable silence settled on the room. Vaylerix began again, "What we didn't know then, and what I discovered tonight was that Lamashtu tried to merge with the baby. Her plan shifted focus. In the past she desired to destroy the All-Mother. However, now it appears that she wants to become the All-mother. In order for her to do that she would have to merge with a child born of an All-Mother Heiress. She managed to get a demonic anchor into you. She wasn't able to merge with your child. The good news is that she was unsuccessful. That is why we had to act quickly to remove her anchors, so that she could not attempt it again. That is why we had to purge everything that your blood touched. Because of her infestation, everything the blood touched, or came in contact with gave her more of a foothold and increased her strength on this plane. However, the elixir you drank not only healed  you, but it purified you so that she can never again infiltrate you or your womb. To ease your and the white-knight's anxiety, yes, you will still be able to have children, but you should bridal your passions for at least a week for your womb to completely recover before you start trying again.," said Vaylerix. At this point Vaylerix stood up and walked over to Seb and Mimi and knelt down in front of them. He held out his left hand, in his palm was the gem that the celestial fire left behind. "Your majesty, white-knight, this gem is the crystalized remains of the child you lost. She was pure and innocent in all this. You did nothing wrong. You couldn't have seen this coming and you could have done nothing more to prevent what happened here today. Nor could have you, Max, my friend," said Vaylerix turning to look over his shoulder at Max. Max just screwed up his face and scoffed. Vaylerix turned back to face Mimi and placed the gem in Mimi's open hand. Seb closed his hand over hers and drew her in close to him and held her hand over his heart. They both shed a few silent tears. Seb placed a gentle kiss on Mimi's temple. "Your majesty, white-knight, perhaps you should retire for the evening. Max, old friend, let's you, me and my vixen have a drink," said Vaylerix clapping Max on his shoulder. "No, old friend. You and Laura can do what you like. I'll drink alone," replied Max coldly. "No, not anymore, friend. You don't get to self flagellate and drown your sorrows alone, not while I am here. You are too good a man to be this sad and broken over things that were not your fault," replied Vaylerix. Max and Vaylerix both stared each other down. "Max, don't make me ask my vixen to compel you to cheer up, you know that she can, " said Valyerix. "Laura will not compel me to do anything against my will," said Max resolutely. "Are you sure about that, Love," said Laura standing up and taking her place at Vaylerix's side. "She's on myside, you're coming with us," said Vaylerix smugly pointing at Laura. Max rolled his eyes, shook his head and sighed. "Fine, but I'm pouring," said Max. "Then you have got to be more generous this time and bring more bottles," replied Vaylerix with a triumphant smile. "Fine, I know where Sebbastian keeps the good stuff. And while we are drinking we can discuss this matter," said Max brandishing the parchment. The three old friends headed off to Sebbastian's study. Sebbastian and Mimi headed off to their room to continue to mourn in private.
