Layla’s POV The quarry was a nightmare of flashing lights and grim faces. It wasn’t an outside attack, Grizz finally told us hours later, his voice hollow. It was one of our own. A prospect, desperate and in debt to the wrong people, had been paid to rig the gate. He’d died in his own trap. It was a bomb scare from the inside. We were safe. The fortress wasn’t breached.
