The next car was a fuel carriage. It was a large cylindrical container held in an open metal construction. On each upper corner of the open crate knelt four guards. They waited for their prey to make a move. They waited for the first sign of Steel, anticipating his movements, waiting for him to move along the carriages. There were two of them on either side, each guarding a corner. They were well placed; each man had an arc of fire that would cover the front or rear of the container. Each man had a throat microphone and headset so that they could talk over the din, as well as ski goggles and a face mask against the wind and dust.
