CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR “b***h!” Adams said, watching the black warbird fly away, but he was smiling. From the carriage they had just come from, Tara was helping Amber out of the doorway. The two women walked over to where Adams lay, watching the helicopter disappear into the distance. “Father!” Tara screamed, running over to Adams, leaving Amber to fall onto the grass from exhaustion. Tara hugged Adams, and he hugged her back. Amber smiled at the touching scene. She stood up and walked slowly towards them. “Are you OK, Mr A?” Amber asked. He nodded as best he could, with Tara’s shoulder in the way. Tara quickly released him after feeling a sharp object pressed against her. She looked down in horror at the sight of the metal shard sticking out from his stomach. “You’re hurt!” Tara protested
