As he stepped out onto the carpet, he brushed himself off and headed for the elevator. He was in. Not quite in the way, he had wanted to enter, but he’d managed it. The lobby area was full of wives in new dresses that probably would never be worn again, husbands in rented tuxedoes and staff holding trays with flutes of champagne. Steel headed down to the ballroom, where the event was being held. It was a massive room with a stage at the far end and balcony seats going up two levels. Above them, was a huge chandelier that was around sixteen feet wide. Below, round tables stood lined up like soldiers on parade, each one able to seat five people.
