Laura’s POV:
I would have loved to listen to her discovery but the creepy way in which she was gawking at me made me want to run the hell out of there. I could literally feel worms crawling all over my skin but still, I stood my ground and didn’t even waver my gaze away. Seemed like Adeline could feel my discomfort as she moved closer to Luke and nudged his elbow.
Luke rubbed his hand over his face and walked toward us, “Asteria, I think we can talk about it later on: We don’t have much time left as the moon will disappear into the dawn soon.”
A small, creepy smile crept over Asteria’s lips as she whispered, “Later, Laura.” With that, she turned around and I finally exhaled the air stuck in my lungs. Adeline was beside me in an instant. I gripped her arm, “That was odd.”
