Chapter 5: "A Deadly Game"
Lyra's words hung in the air like a challenge. She had never felt so alive, so determined. Julian's eyes seemed to burn with approval, his smile growing wider.
"Welcome to the game, Lyra," he said, his voice low and husky. "But remember, once you're in, there's no turning back."
Lyra nodded, her heart racing with anticipation. She knew the risks, but she was ready to take them.
As they walked back to the coffee shop, Sophia's eyes narrowed, her gaze flicking between Lyra and Julian.
"What's going on?" Sophia asked, her voice laced with concern.
Lyra hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. But Julian's eyes seemed to dare her to tell the truth.
"We're taking down my parents," Lyra said, her voice firm.
Sophia's eyes widened, her face pale. "Lyra, are you sure that's a good idea?"
Lyra nodded, her heart racing with determination. "I've never been surer of anything in my life."
As they parted ways, Lyra felt a sense of purpose she had never felt before. She was ready to take on her parents, to uncover the truth and bring them to justice.
But little did she know, her parents were watching, waiting for their moment to strike. And Julian, the boy she trusted, had secrets of his own.
