ALPHA'S Little Pumpkin

Chapter 3

Hunter's POV

"Alpha Miles, this visit is unexpected"Alpha Darin came out to welcome us. I looked at the already aged man and can't help noticing the dark circle underneath his eyes.

We werewolves hardly get fatigued so you can imagine how surprising it is to see an Alpha so tired for it showed in his physical appearance

"I'm sorry Alpha, but I couldn't reach you for a meeting so I came over myself since you were so busy" I explained. Indeed walking in here without any prior notice could mean a threat to their pack. I already have thousands to worry about and having more would be too much of a headache.

"Indeed I was busy. Since you are here though, do come in for a glass of wine" he offered with a tight-lipped smile

"Thank you" I and my friends went in with him.

We all sat at a large round table where we were served wine as he had promised.

"So Alpha, I understand you're busy but I would really love to have an explanation on why your pack member attacked mine! We have no issues between us do we?" I asked and although I had no intention of declaring war Alpha Darin has been an Alpha even before my birth, so he understood quite well there was an underlying threat in my words

"Let's talk in my office Alpha" he proposed standing from his seat.

"I'll be back" I told my friends before following the Alpha in.

"So... " it's been almost five minutes since I walked into his office and he is yet to say a word

"I was wondering what you think about it if the human government is made to know of our existence and the relationship between us" he asked.

I didn't understand why he would ask such a question. Some humans know about us, lots of werewolves find themselves mated to humans. Knowing how unbelievable and overwhelmed they can be, we made a rule that any Were mated to a human must first court them and gain their trust before revealing who they truly are to them.

Some humans did freak out but the bond and love brought them back while some found it fascinating and accepted it coolly. Those humans were made to swear they won't reveal our secret to the world hence why we could still remain hidden.

"If they were made to know about us, there might be war. The humans won't want to sit still knowing there are more creatures out there stronger than them and they will attack. And you know the repercussion Alpha. Why do you ask?" There must have been a reason for the question. If the human world really decides to attack, that would mean their extinct.

Neither the werewolves, vampires, fae nor the witches would sit still. No matter the equipment and machines they have they still aren't strong enough to battle our world.

"No reason just curious. As for the issue that occurred between my pack and yours, I apologize. A werewolf lost his loved one and went berserk hence the attack. I have gotten it under control" he was spouting bullshit!

No reason?!

Like I would believe that.

And for the werewolf going berserk from losing a loved one. Because we werewolf cherishes relation and bonds so dearly, if a loved one dies especially one's mate, a wolf could go mad and go on a killing spree as it craves blood. But as Alpha, who is connected to every pack member, you feel the loss of a pack member as soon as he or she breathes their last breath.

It is then our duty to find the deceased loved ones and keep them under control and surveillance to avoid incidence like that. Him saying this is the same as saying he isn't worthy of being an Alpha.

"I'll believe your excuse Alpha even though I don't understand how a Wolf which went berserk did not cause any damage in your pack but did in mine. But then what about the previous intrusion your pack members have been doing" I might have said I believed him but my tone delivered a totally different message

"I'm glad you choose to believe me Alpha. And as for the intrusion, I guess the wolves were bored and decided to sightsee. You know how it is" he chuckled.

I couldn't help laughing, I noticed him going tense at the sound of my laughter

"Considering the relationship you had with my dad, I'll let go of this insult. But be warned this will be the last time I would be a fool for you!" I stood up and headed towards the door

"Young Alpha, Damien found his mate" Damien is Alpha Darin's only son. We got along quite well since we were the same age but he refused to take the position as Alpha because he wanted to have a more fun and free life instead of being held by responsibilities.

Just like myself, Damien has been searching for his mate for years. Hearing that he found him or her brought joy into my heart and some of the anger in me dissipated

I guess something good came out of this visit

"That's great news. I haven't seen him since our arrival so I just assumed he was out there having fun" Damien was more of a traveler. I travel too but it was always for business sake or my pack member who lived in another country needed help. But Damien, he travels for leisure purpose

"He is not here indeed. Sometimes news that seemed like good ones ends up being the worst news. Have a safe trip Alpha" I understood he won't be emphasizing more on that so I didn't bother trying to make him talk. I left his office.

"Let's go" I told my friends and they both nodded.

Damien found his mate!

His words kept on repeating in my head. Something is not right! I had this nagging feeling he was trying to tell me something

"Hey, you have been quiet" Lucas observed

"Gregor, I need you to investigate the Oyster pack. I want to know what they have been up to for the past six months no the past year and Lucas, find Damien" it was odd that a pack as small as the Oysters have been making trouble with the Black krest pack. What is even more odd was the fact that Alpha Darin who loved his son so much doesn't sound excited that Damien found his mate! Instead, he had bags underneath his eyes.

Are they in some sort of trouble?!

Is Damien Okay?!

And is he planning on getting help from the human government or is the human government the trouble?!

Different questioned flowed my mind

"Alpha, you made me in charge of the bid competition. I'll start investigating the Oysters when the bid is over" I forgot there was something like that. Indeed I had tasked him to handle that but right now investigating the Oysters pack comes first

"Investigating the Oysters comes first. I'll handle the bidding myself" I told him. We can't just stop the bidding for no reason so I have no choice but to be in charge.

"Yes Alpha" they both responded.

Damien, what trouble did you get yourself into?!
