Sarah’s p.o.v. (a week ago)
I slowly fluttered my eyes open but instantly regretted doing so as a burning pain shot through my head. Holy crap, it literally feels like my head is about to crack open into two pieces. f*****g hell…
I turned on my side, wrapping my blanket tightly around me as sudden waves of nausea only added to my misery. I know I’ve promised this countless times before, but I’m officially never drinking again. Or at least for a few days…
I groaned loudly as my stomach made another twist but my eyes snapped open as I heard a chuckle not too far away from me.
“Blake?” I confusedly stared at my friend as she sat in the chair beside my bed, a soft smile playing on her lips “You alive in there?”
As she said that another wave of pain shot through my head and I quickly pulled the duvet all the way over my head. I’ve had hangovers before but this one’s like on a whole other level. How on earth did I even get this shitfaced?
I remember… s**t, not a lot.
I know I was supposed to meet with Mila but she had to cancel last minute and that’s how I got to talking to Collin. I remember having a glass of wine and then I started feeling sick so he took me outside and… Oh my god.
I slowly started to understand what happened and I felt all the color drain from my face. Did he….?
I panickily pushed myself to sit up, ignoring the pain it brought me as I beggingly looked at my friend “Blake, what happened yesterday?”
“Nothing, you’ve got your brother to thank for that”, she answered and I loudly exhaled in relief. Thank god…
“He’s livid by the way”, Blake added and I knew I was in trouble. Matthew had always been overprotective before but I’m not sure I even want to know what he’s going to be like now.
“Where is he?” I asked her cautiously and she tilted her head once towards the door before answering “Downstairs”
Damnit Sarah, how could you not have noticed that… If Matthew hadn’t been there, no. I don’t even want to think about that.
“You definitely gave everyone a bit of a scare, Matthew started calling everyone when he couldn’t fin-“
She couldn’t even finish her sentence as the door suddenly flew open, Matthew standing in the doorway with an expression that honestly scared me.
“You’re awake”, he stated, his voice void of emotion and I quickly lowered my eyes down to my lap but I could just feel the daggers he was throwing at me with his eyes. I know I’m really in no place to snap back at him like I usually do, I’m pretty sure he would even kill me if I did.
Blake cleared her throat and I watched from the corner of my eyes as she got up from the chair “I’m going down to let you two talk”
Her footsteps sounded through the room but they stopped as she reached Matthew “You keep your s**t together for once”
No response came from him but soon after the sound of the door closing followed and I felt my eyes slowly starting to water. I wasn’t the kind of girl to cry over little things and I usually wouldn’t care too much if Matthew was mad at me but right now, it shattered my heart.
“Sarah”, he called out my name but I couldn’t bring myself to look up, traitorous tears already falling from my eyes. I was so disappointed in myself, I can’t even imagine how-
My thoughts quickly came to a halt as I felt two arms tightly circle around me, completely squishing me into a chest.
“You almost gave me a heart attack, do you even know that?” I heard Matthew softly speak in my hair and I nodded my head as the floodgates completely opened, leaving me like a sobbing mess “I’m so sorry”
“Shh, please don’t cry”, I felt him softly stroke my hair and I can’t even imagine how pathetic I looked in that moment, all I know is that I don’t ever want to feel like this again.
“I just don’t want you to be mad at me”, I sobbed quietly in his chest “I’m not mad at you Sarah but things are gonna go a lot different from now on”
Back to present
And boy had he meant those words. It had been a week already but me even looking in the direction of a guy had him already going off. Most times it wouldn’t be too serious but as he started acting more and more like my dad instead of my brother, I slowly started getting absolutely annoyed.
Right now was the perfect example. We were on the graduation trip and every evening, I stood outside his rooms waiting for him so ‘we could go together’. He’s basically keeping me under constant surveillance and I’m not sure how much longer I’m going to be able to take this s**t. Sure, what had happened absolutely sucked and I promised I would be more careful but he’s really starting to take it too far.
“Come on Matthew, the rest have already been there for hours”, I knocked on his door for the tenth time, Blake seeming to get slightly annoyed as well. She had offered to wait with me since we stayed in the same room and even though she’s one of the calmest people I know, I noticed how even she was slowly starting to lose her cool.
“What’s that punk even doing in there?” she muttered to herself before standing up and joining me with the knocking “If you’re not out in five minutes, we’re leaving”
We both took a step back and waited for about minute but nothing… He can’t seriously expect us to wait now can he?
“That’s it”, she took a deep breath before she continuously started banging on the door. I love you Blake. I chuckled at her impatience and joined her, the door to his room opening soon after.
“Chill, I’m ready”, Matthew casually stood in the doorway but his response wasn’t what got my eyes to go wide. It was the girl that quickly passed us as she exited his room. He’s not serious…
“You pig”, I looked at him baffled as he just shrugged. He had us waiting here while he was in there banging a chick? Unbelievable…
“Let’s just go”, Blake spoke annoyed as she pulled me back by the shoulders and I was she did because I was ready to wack him across the face. The f*****g hypocrite.
After about 10 minutes we had arrived and my hands were tightly grabbing at my hair as Matthew had somehow managed to turn the discussion back to me.
“A few drinks, I know you Sarah and before we all know it you’re completely waisted again”, he threw at me and I harshly gritted my teeth together “Are you serious? I’m a saint if you compare how many times you’ve come home waisted yet I always get in trouble for it”
Stupid sexist s**t…
“That’s just the f*****g way it is so suck it up”, he responded and I was grateful as Blake intervened again “She can have a few drinks Matthew, I’m not leaving her side”
“She can sip on some water and that’s it”, I rolled my eyes at him and exhaled in relief as I spotted Ella sitting on one of the couches by the end of the room. There’s my b***h.
“Whatever Matthew, I’m going to Ella cause you’re giving me a headache”, I spoke before I turned my back to him and started walking away.
“This isn’t over Sarah”, I just shook my head and waved it off. This trip is supposed to be fun… I’m not planning on doing anything crazy but I just want to enjoy my time so Matthew can go f**k himself for all I care.
I approached the end of the room and chuckled when I looked at Ella as she groggily smiled at something Alexander had said “Having a rough night?”
I plopped down on the couch next to her and shook my head as she didn’t answer me, seeming to be deep in thoughts. She does that often when she had a little too much to drink.
“Helloww”, waving my hand in front of her face, her eyes blinked rapidly before she finally answered me “Sorry and yeah, that’s one way of putting it. Alcohol tolerance is still very low”
“That’s how I know you, my friend”, I laughed at her and slowly let my head fall back against the couch.
“Like your tolerance is any better”, I recognized Alex’s stupid voice and I quickly sat up again, hitting one of his shoulders “Auwch, you’re really way too aggressive, firstly Matthew and now me”
Why do they all have to be this freaking annoying?
He started wiggling his brows at me and I quickly stared hitting him more, him pissing me off even more as he started laughing “Maybe if you guys would stop being so annoying, I wouldn’t be so aggressive”,
My punches were far from painful but the moment he stuck his tongue out, that quickly changed and he quickly seemed to notice “Jesus woman”
“Don’t mind her, that’s just Sarah at her best”, Sophia’s voice came from behind me and I reluctantly sat back down, my eyes still narrowed at the dimwit beside me.
“Ella needs to be somewhere by the way”, Sophia smiled brightly at Ella and the little fight with Alex quickly left my mind as I knew what this was about. It was about damn time too…
I looked at Ella as she curiously raised a brow at Sophia “I do?”
"Let's walk together", she answered and pulled her to her feet before linking their arms together. Giving us a quick wave, we watched as Sophia dragged Ella out of the crowded room and into the hallway. This better works out.
Some time passed and I had told them all about Sophia and I’s little plan after Matthew, Blake, Oliver, Ethan and Jason had joined James, Alex and I on the couches. It was a fairly easy plan; just push them together and hope for the best. We were all quite curious about the outcome and the moment Sophia walked back into the room, we all expectantly looked at her “And? Did it work?”
“Of course it did, I’m excellent in this type of stuff”, she answered with a big smile and plopped herself down next to Oliver who instantly put his arms around her. Good, I guess that finally all is well in the world again…
“So were are they?” Ethan asked and the smile she had slowly turned into a smirk “They went back to his room”
Most of the group started laughing as she said that and I softly shook my head. I suppose they’re not wasting any mor time…
“Told you, they just needed to bang”, Oliver said between his laughter, making Sophia softly scoff “Shut up Oliver”
“Anyway now those two are all lovey dovey again, I guess it’s time for my next victim”, she added and I froze as her eyes came to me. Oh boy…
“I hope you’re not talking about my sister”, Matthew spoke and I rolled my eyes for like the tenth time today. He seriously needs to calm down.
“Oh relax, I already have the perfect match for her”, she answered and my expression quickly turned similar to my brothers as we were both eager to know who she exactly meant.
“Who did you have in mind?” Matthew narrowed his eyes a little at her and I loudly groaned as she leaned in to his ear. Why is she telling him and not me? That’s so stupid…
I watched as his expression grew from curious to annoyed before he pulled back to look at her “Absolutely not”
