Chapter 15

Over the next two days, I didn’t leave Lucian’s side unless absolutely necessary. I ate my meals by his bed, and I slept on an extra mattress in the room on the floor beside him. I was still pretty tired from being pregnant. Exhausted in body, but with not much else to do beyond being worried, I was also a little bored.
The general consensus for Lucian’s illness was some kind of mystery virus that had gotten to him in his exhausted state. Everyone agreed he was lucky to be alive.
I dressed in loose clothing to hide the small bump growing in my belly. I’m not sure how obvious it was to outsiders, but to me, it felt like the whole world could see what was going on. No one said anything about it, though, so I knew it must all be in my head.
They didn’t notice I wasn’t
