The night of the Moonrun Festival arrived faster than expected.
As the sun dipped toward the horizon, excitement filled the halls of the Academy and every dorm. Lanterns, colorful ribbons, and trinkets adorned the trees all around the campus, creating a path to the forest where the run was supposed to begin at midnight.
I did my best to match my friends’ energy so as not to ruin their mood, but when Elise declared she felt sick and she was staying in bed, I was tempted to do the same.
