Professor Anwen sighed, clearly annoyed by all the interruptions. “Impossible because every attempt ended in disaster,” she replied, “Shifters did try, many times. They took witches to their beds—sometimes with consent, sometimes by deceit, sometimes even by force. But none of it mattered.
