Darius’s POV: The walls were cold. Damp. Silent. The chamber felt like a tomb. I sat hunched in the corner, head pressed against my knees. The beast inside me clawed against my ribs, howling to be freed. ‘She’s gone because you drove her away! She hates you because you’re weak! Next time, we won’t let her go! We’ll taste her flesh, her blood, her soul! All ours!’ Going from whining in pain and regret to howling threats and curses at everyone, including our mate, my wolf was growing more and more unstable. I could feel his hold on me tightening, my control lessening under each attack.
