I ended up a bit tipsy. Okay—maybe more than a bit tipsy. And yes, walking in the rain probably didn’t help, except I swear I wasn’t getting wet. Somehow, the rain just slid off me like I was some kind of waterproof superhero, or maybe the universe was giving me a little mercy after the disaster that was yesterday.
I tried to focus on something else—literally anything else—but my traitorous mind refused. Every thought circled back to him. The mountain of a man. His eyes. The blue eyes that had turned almost black the moment he kissed my finger. Goddammit, that kiss.
