We were walking back to the pack house when I was hit from behind and knocked to the ground. Before I had a chance to get up, I was hit again. I could hear Terry yelling but couldn’t quite make out what he was saying.
I finally managed to get my feet under me and stand. Only to come face to face with Terry holding Angel.
“Let her go Terry” I told him “if she wants to do this, then we can go right now”
She didn't even blink, but then she really didn't have time to try. Before anyone could make a move, I launched myself at her.
She was good, I mean, really good. She managed to sneak me a few times. At some point the pack members started arriving, mostly warriors. They were standing around, making a circle to contain our fighting.
I heard someone ask if Angel was fighting to challenge me for the Luna title. As much as I wanted to know exactly what that meant, I didn’t have time to stop and ask questions, or even look in the direction the voice came from. That left me trying to figure it out while fighting. I didn’t like the thoughts or ideas that were popping into my head. I wasn’t able to completely focus on the fight at hand. One thing kept popping up over and over again, she was fighting me for Terry. She wants to take my mate from me and be his mate instead of me. Somehow, I’m going to put this girl in her place. She’s going to learn, she needs to learn, that I’m not just a little girl who will roll over and let someone push out the way.
I’m not sure how it happened, but one minute I was looking Angel in the face while fighting her. The next, I was significantly shorter than her and had to look up to see her face. All noise stopped instantly. Well everyone stopped talking, that is. But I was able to hear every thought that was going through their heads.
I had managed to shift into my wolf instinctly. And she was beautiful. Standing just under five feet tall. My wolf is pure white with a thin gray band that ran from my right eye down to the tip of my tail.
Angel shifted into wolf form and lunged at me. I acted on my wolf's instinct alone, and I dropped down low. Once she was close enough, I grabbed, no, I bit down on her front leg. Snatching her out the air and onto the ground. Not giving her a chance to attack again, I jumped on top of her and bit down on her throat. I saw her eyes roll towards mine, and she immediately went limp. One of the Warriors walked towards us “you can let her go now, we’ve all witnessed your defeat over Angel. She cannot challenge you ever again without facing death”.
I wasn’t exactly sure what he meant, but I wasn’t going to just let her go. Angel has hated me from the second she laid eyes on me. Not even giving me a chance to fully know what’s going on or the opportunity to speak to her directly one woman to another woman.
“My beautiful Queen, you can let her go now. She is to be escorted directly to a cell, where she will remain until she’s met with her Alpha and Luna to explain her actions.” Terry said while walking slowly towards me.
I opened my jowls and released her throat just as three of the warriors came to stand around her. She shifted back into human form while two of the men grabbed an arm while the third stood behind her. Angel stood and glared at me while her hands were being restrained behind her back. I watched her walk off before turning to look at Terry, who squatted down to my level.
“Think about what you look like. Your human body, including clothes. I need you to relax and you will be able to shift back to your human form.”
Relax! Relax! Did he really say that I need to relax? How was I supposed to do that? I’m jumping and prancing around. It feels so good to feel free right now. The colors are more vibrant, I can see so much more clarity and at further distances, and oh my goddess everything smells wonderful. Well, everything except that awful stench anyways. I start to follow the smell, trying to figure out what it could possibly be and where it is coming from. Whatever it is, it smells awful. I vaguely took note of everyone following me, the smell was coming from the far side of the lake. As we get closer, I can hear everyone else start to talk about what the smell could be since they can now smell it as well.
“Stop” Terry says very quietly. We all stopped and looked at him. He walks slowly towards a thicket of bushes, once he reaches it, he looks over the bushes and jumps back. “Someone get Jenny and have her meet me in the media room. I need for someone to get something to carefully carry these people to the clinic.” That’s when I decide to walk forward. The smell is so strong now that I’m ready to gag and lose my lunch.
Once we all gathered in the media room, Terry walked over to Jenny and pulled her into his arms giving her a big hug. Looking over at me, he mentally asked me to come over. I’m still getting used to that little trick, so I jumped when I heard his voice in my head.
Once I was close enough, Jenny turned and ran into me, knocking me onto the ground. We both just sat there for a few minutes before I managed to get us both up onto the couch.
“Many of you have known Jenny for a few years now since she has joined our pack, and some of you, only for a short time. But what none of you know is how she came to join our pack. I’ve always respected Jenny's privacy and told her that she could tell her story when she was ready. Unfortunately, recent events have made that impossible.” Turning towards Jenny and myself, “Jenny, you need to tell your story. It’s not my story to tell, it’s yours. I think it’s time that we all know how you became a member of our family.”
Jenny looked at Terry and started shaking her head, almost immediately Terry started nodding his head. Taking a deep breath to steady herself, while she fought back tears, Jenny turned to look at the group.
