Layne teetered between consciousness and the dark haze of sleep. The couch cradled him as he gazed around Dylan’s living room. He’d woken in the same spot many times after a night out with his friends. This time, it was different. His friend had asked him to stay, not because he feared Layne would wreck if he left, but because he wanted him to protect Heaven.
He wished he would fall back to sleep. The last few days had been a nightmare. His relationship with Faith would end soon, but having it go down at the same time chaos exploded around Dylan and Heaven hit him by surprise. As did his friendship with Heaven.
