Renee couldn't dodge in time. The door behind her burst open, and Hans rushed in, grabbing the knife by the blade.
Blood immediately splattered on the floor, and Renee screamed, "Hans!"
Natalie stared at him in shock. "Why?"
Hans' men stormed in, quickly restraining Natalie.
Even as she was dragged away, she couldn't take her eyes off Hans' bleeding hand.
"Hans, are you okay?" Renee asked frantically, staring at his wound.
Hans shook his head. "I'm fine."
"Why would you do something so stupid? Grabbing a knife like that?"
"As long as you're safe."
Renee's heart fluttered at his words, which echoed in her mind.
After surviving two near-death experiences, she had to rethink some things. No matter how rocky their beginning was, it couldn't overshadow the bond they had formed.
