The Truth Hurts
Ryleigh
Stefano slipped his arms around Ryleigh kissing her neck. She flinched. "What's wrong Ry?"
"We can't go in like this Stefano."
"Like what? I don't understand."
"Us, this, pretending "
"Are we? I'm not. I love you Ry, I always have and always will."
"No, you don't, Stefano. It's time you lived in the real world and faced our reality. Nothing's been the same between us for a long time. We fell in love, or so I thought. You just wanted to walk in your father's footsteps and have something worth fighting for, someone you would love unconditionally forever, but that's the problem, Stefano. I'm not it."
"What are you saying Ry? Don't you love me anymore?"
"You know I do, it's you that doesn't and I've had to come to terms with it for the last five years after we had Morgan. You've been distant from me ever since. This is the closest we've been in five years Stefano, five f*****g years without you touching me, making love to me, kissing me and having a decent conversation without either of us throwing something at each other. I can't do it anymore."
"What are you trying to say Ry? Are you leaving me?"
She gulped. "I want a divorce."
"No, anything but that."
"Sort your s**t out Stefano or we're done."
"I will. I promise."
"We go to a marriage Counselor if that doesn't work then we'll have no other option but.. "
"Don't say if Ry doesn't say it, I'll prove to you I want this to work." He said, kissing her neck.
He turned her around. "I love you Ry and I'll make you realise I do, every day for the rest of our lives." He said, pressing his lips on hers, kissing her passionately. Tears shed, falling down her face.
He moved away looking deep into her eyes. "Don't cry Ryleigh. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."
"One more thing."
"Anything."
"Gian."
His jaw clenched. "What about him?"
"Be nice to him Stefano, he's just a kid he doesn't deserve your hatred and humiliation. He's your brother!"
"And he's disabled, he can't do anything for s**t, he's useless "
"He's your younger brother. You should love and respect him and none of you does."
"Cause he's different, he'll be nothing and accomplish nothing."
"Your harsh Stefano, real harsh. His disability won't stop him from doing anything worthwhile you will. You've all practically turned everyone against him. He's no different than you and I. You're making him think about all those things, that are judging him on his disability, not him. You're discriminating against him because of it. If that was one of your employees you would be in a court of law for discriminating against them. Think about it Stefano, he's your brother all he wants is your love, not your hatred you were so close with him when he was growing up then it all changed."
"I will."
"You better 'cause I'm not having another one of my kids thinking they can bully a disabled kid 'cause their father does it, it's wrong Stefano and you know it."
Out of the coma : Make them see you are better than them.
Gian
I opened my eyes, I had heard chatting since I started coming around I'd heard vague voices of my parents blaming themselves for me being here and they should've stopped all of this from happening before or went too far and I couldn't agree more.
I had heard my sister's pleas. "Please G, wake up you're better than them, better than they think you are. For f**k sake fight! I need you G. You're the only one I connect with in this f****d up family. Please stay with me. Wake up and prove them wrong, prove you're better than them. Please G doesn't leave me on my own with them your my only brother. They lost that privilege when they started hurting you. Please open your eyes and prove to them you are better than them and make them see you are better than them!" She screamed
I felt her tears fall on my hand. That was it for me, the turning point. Seina was the only one who ever believed in me. I was going to do this for her, for me. I was going to prove to my family and those fuckers I was better than they took me for. I was going to make a name for myself and not f**k my entire life up that pricks had.
My fingers twitched. My eyes opened. "I'm not going anywhere, Seina. I'm together here and I'm going to prove to them I'm not as dumb as they think I am and I'll throw it back in their sorry faces.
She looked up at me with teary eyes and a tear-stained face, looking shocked. "G you're awake."
I smiled, wiping her toast away.
She jumped at me, giving me a bear hug. "Don't ever do that to me again G. I don't want to ever lose you."
"And you won't."
The nurses rushed in. Seira pulled away from our hug to let them check my vitals and do some tests on me.
Once they were finished and left the room mom ran on hugging meme and crying. "My baby. I'm so sorry those boys have no respect for you let alone family values or morals."
"It's okay mom."
"No, it's not. We are all family and they know family is family no matter race, disability, or sexuality."
'Where's dad?"
"Taking care of some business. He won't be long."
I nodded.
"I'm so happy you're okay. You need to be somewhere safe away from your brothers."
"They are no longer my brothers."
"I understand Gian, but you still have to be safe and away from them."
"What do you mean mom?"
"I'll let your father explain when he gets here."
"Sure mom whatever you say. You know best after all."
"I sure do."
We all laughed, we all knew just how true that was.
Dad walked in around an hour later and walked over to me hugging me. I was taken aback by his gesture. He hadn't hugged me since I was ten.
He moved away. "I'm sorry it all had to come to this son. I truly am. I should never have let it go as far as it did. And I'm truly sorry for it. I hope someday you'll forgive me."
"I will."
He smiled and sat down. "Well, I guess Torino has told you that I wanted to talk to you?"
"Mom mentioned it, yeah. What's going on dad?"
"Remember when you came to me and talked about moving out before and we agreed on you moving out before college?"
"Yeah," I answered with confusion. I looked at him. "You've not changed your mind have you?"
"No. The complete opposite."
"Hugh?"
"Gian, Torino and I have come to realise things are worse, a lot worse than we thought they were between you and your brothers. So, we both agreed for you to have your apartment right now. It's fully furnished and rent-free. The utility bills will be paid off by you working with me. I know you want to become a lawyer, but hear me out first. Your uncle Leon has agreed for you to help him in his company you'll get the best of both worlds and then if you prefer to work toward a degree and beyond a lawyer, I won't stop you. Also, I have set Jay up as well in the company until uni if he chooses to go it will be up to him if he stays or goes to another company I won't force him to stay.
And Seina will be a few streets away from you. She's got a new apartment too. Not far away from her studio and soon-to-be workplace once she's finished uni."
"Are you serious?"
My mother and father smiled nodding.
"This is the best news ever thank you, both of you."
"Anything for you my little gem as long as you visit now and again."
"I will. I promise mom as long as Seina and Jay are with me."
"Oh they will be or there will be hell to pay." My mom said. And I knew she meant it.
