Her body went rigid. Heat drained from her face. “Fiona?" The name came out of her mouth like a mistake. Fiona gave a quiet laugh. “Did you truly believe life would continue peacefully after everything that happened?" Caroline gripped the phone harder against her ear. “How are you calling me? You're under arrest." “You really think custody can silence me?" Fiona sounded amused. “It should." Caroline forced steadiness into her voice. “You were arrested because of what you did." “And because of what you did," Fiona corrected, the softness vanished. “Don't play innocent. You are the reason I'm here." Caroline's throat tightened. “You framed me. You manipulated everything. You destroyed me first." Fiona laughed again, sharper. “Oh, Caroline. Still rehearsing your little speech."
