The hallway outside Thorne's apartment was too bright. Caroline stood in front of his door, hand raised, not opening yet. Her coat was still on. Snow melted in her hair. Her chest felt tight like she had been running. She came inside. Thorne sat on the couch, in sweatpants and a dark T-shirt, relaxed, hair messy like he'd been on the couch too long. The television's sound echoed through the room. He smiled the moment he saw her. “Hey. You're back." Caroline forced her face into something normal. “Hi." “Working late again?"
