Dinner and Small Talk

1252 Words
EBONY’s POV The silence was welcome. I could hear Ruby’s heart pour ding in her chest. Her breast rippled with every pound. A small bead of perspiration trickled down her neck and my tongue itched to lick it and taste her skin. My wolf Aurora panted in my head urging me to taste her, I felt like my head might explode. She filled my senses, her watermelon and citrus scent made my mouth water and my core ache with need to feel her near me. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK The door burst open and I growled at the blonde girl Millie who entered the room pushing a trolley with the food I had ordered covered by a number of silver cloches. She smiled sweetly at me and batted her eyelashes, ‘Can I get you anything else?’ She spoke with confidence whilst winking at my mate. It made me angry and my wolf interrupted my thoughts with ideas that she may be Ruby’s lover. The rage that swelled from my chest was like nothing I had ever experienced. Try as I might, stopping Aurora was going to be impossible. ‘Miss Olsen’ Ruby whispered and lifted my hand. Her skin on mine erupted in sparks and my wolf calmed immediately. ‘Can Millie get you anything else?’ she smiled at me with her eyes and my never broke my gaze. Gods her beauty astounded me. I shook my head and Millie left the room and closed the door. Ruby dropped my hand and lifted the cloches on the trolley. A selection of my favourites dishes from this world. An eclectic mix which made my beautiful mate giggle, they most beautiful sound I’d ever heard. ‘Em, did you mean to order all this?’ She asked with a smile on her face and her head c****d to one side. ‘I mean we have breakfast, lunch, dinner, desert and snacks here?’ She stared at the pancakes, bacon and maple syrup, macaroni cheese with sausage, steak with creamy garlic potatoes, whiskey sauce and steamed vegetables and white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake with peach sorbet and raised her eyebrows. I laughed and stood beside her grabbing a plate and helping myself to the Mac and cheese and sausage. ‘I have a big appetite’ i told her and sat down on the sofa. ‘Grab a plate Ruby. Please. Would you join me for dinner?’ Ruby frowned and began to talk but stoped herself. I raised my hand out to her and she walked towards me and took it gently. Her beautiful face lit up, I knew she was feeling the tingles in her hand and she loved it. Pulling her down to sit beside me, I put some pasta and sausage on my fork and put it to her lips. Watching her lips close around the fork and her tongue dart to the side of her mouth to catch the sauce had a moan of appreciation escape my lips. I continued to feed her some more until she returned to the trolley and added some of the steak meal to a plate. Copying what I had done she began to feed me, and I could feel her nervousness ease away again, her heartbeat at slowed a little but she was turned on. I could smell her arousal. Aurora howled in my head but watched carefully at our mate, sensing that this was something she lost definitely was not used to. Ruby’s POV I couldn’t control my nerves, I was so excited. This had been the weirdest night of my life so far. I couldn’t fathom what this lady wanted with me but she was being kind and we had so much fun. Feeding her the rare steak took my attention to her lips. They were plump and soft and I wondered what it would be like to kiss them. We did not break eye contact other than to add more food to our plates to feed each other. Miss Olsen told me she was a twin, she has a brother and that he was running the family business with her father.she had travelled to many exotic places based on the anecdotes she shared and I was fascinated by her life. Her attentions quickly turned to me and I only wish I had seen it coming. Spooning some tart peach sorbet into my mouth she asked, ‘what about you? Tell me about your family.’ I pouted and frowned. Did I tell her or just make something up? It wasn’t like I’d ever see her again. Trusting my heart rather than my head I told her the truth, some of it anyway. ‘When I was 6 years old, I was adopted by a wonderful Irish couple - hence the slight brogue in my accent, especially when I’m drunk or annoyed.’ I blushed a little when she scrunched up her nose and told me she had noticed. ‘Before that, I have very little recollection of my life and records were poor. I wasn’t badly treated, my parents hadn’t died or anything like that, they just couldn’t look after me so had me adopted for a better life.’ I continued. Ebony put our plates on the floor and tucked her leg up facing me, giving me her full attention. Nodding encouragingly, she seemed eager to hear more. ‘My adoptive parents Tadgh and Eimear had two older sons Rauri and Shaun, both away off in University when I was little, one is an accountant and the other owns a restaurant. We get together very few months and at holidays. My parents visit me here too.’ I stopped and sipped my champagne and prayed Ebony wouldn’t ask me how I ended up in Spicers, but of course she did. Recalling the years in my late teens when I rebelled against every rule Mammy and Daddy had put in place was not a fun thing to do. Admitting I had thrown their love for me away was not my proudest moment. ‘I ran away. I had tried to find out about my birth parents and hit brick walls at every turn. I had had enough. I felt unworthy of their love and kindness. So I caught the ferry to the UK and walked and hitch hiked until I settled here. I rent a little house in the woods, paid for by cooking and cleaning for the elderly couple who own it. I bought my truck with money I earned busking in the street and working in cafes or bars for about a year. My parents and I were on good terms then but I liked it here so I wanted to stay. The old manager here Adam heard me busking and asked if I’d perform here. I didn’t quite get the whole private audience thing until my first night but it was ok. I have mostly had a very positive experience here. I don’t perform anymore though, tonight was not planned. I usually work behind the main bar.’ Ebony began to trace lines on my hands as she listened, I relaxed immediately and the tingles in the palm of my hand spread throughout my body. ‘Millie, Alvin, Drake and the girls here have been my family. I keep myself to myself though, it’s somewhat a miracle that I’ve even told you as much.’ I leant into the sofa and closed my eyes, the feelings she gave me were like nothing I can explain with any justice.
