"How's everything in Belgium?", I asked lighting up my cigarette. "Al-right", he was hesitant. Something was wrong. "Good.", he looked up at me and then out of the room. "Shoot.", I spoke not looking at him. "Your brother...", I raised a brow at him, "He demanded to meet you." Why after so many years? It better not be some f****d up plan of his, again. Even though his doctors had assured me all the while that he had improved a great deal and almost recovered. But I knew him better than anyone. He was no less of a genius and I doubt he can't act just to assure the doctors of his improvement. What scared me more was his mind games. He could easily play with others' minds. I rubbed my temple. This guy was driving me nuts. "Did he say anything?", I looked at him, tensing a bit. He gulped. I straightened my posture. I've a feeling something's really really wrong. "He... demanded for you to get Jace out of cell.", my jaw clenched. His right hand man, who helped him in all the smuggling s**t. We had pinned all the blame on him. That might be half wrong. But he was a real fucker and I feel zero sympathy towards him. I think he deserved it. Getting that fucker out meant, giving Rowan a way back to all the shitty illegal business, again. Even if Rowan doesn't involve himself in any illegal business anymore, I'm more than hundred percent sure, that fucker will surely do. What the hell is wrong with everything. ••••••••••••••••••••••• I walked across the street, following Aine as she walked out of her school, smiling like always. It's been years since I rescued the petite little girl. She was growing everyday. And the more she grew up, the more it felt uncomfortable. She was no longer a child. She was becoming more like a woman. And the more her body changed, the more the guys were attracted. And the more the guys looked at her with their filthy gazes, the more my strange attraction towards her grew. I didn't even notice, when the hell, I got so addicted to her. She would soon go to college. There will be even more guys looking at her with their dirty gazes and on top of that, she would want to date a guy like everyone else and just the thought of that burnt my heart for God knows what reason. I stared at her, silently, with hands tucked in my jeans pockets. For now, I was assured that she was a nerdy type of student who only ever studies. She has avoided interactions with guys and outings. According to her coy and introvert nature. But she was becoming a woman. Sooner or later, she would be like any other woman. A woman. Just the thought sent a cold shiver down my spine. I pushed my sick thoughts aside. Swallowing the lump in my throat I walked to her slowly. It was her 17th birthday. I had bought her a brownie cake since I figured she loved chocolates more than anything. I chuckled thinking about how she never accept any gifts but chocolates make an exception for her. Just because chocolates cast a spell on her, as she had said, she can't resist it after all. I fake coughed as I got to her and she turned around almost immediately. A coy smile made its way up to her lips as she saw me. "I was expecting you" ""And I came.", I said in a 'duh' tone and she grinned. "What does that make me then?", I asked in my most playful tone. "What?", she looked at me confused. "Your Guardian angel." She thought for a while. "Yeah, can't deny that. You saved me too and you make my day." A small smile made it's way up to my lips. "What's that?", she asked slowly tucking back a strand of hair behind her ear as she looked up at me hopefully. "Let's guess.", I said grinning while she whined. "No" "Brownie cake.", she squealed in delight as I told her. "I- I love it." "I know.", I slightly smiled. And just like that, the evening went with us moving around the city side by side and occasionally chatting until her eyes landed on the guy standing on the other side of road. His face immediately lit up just as his eyes landed on the girl by my side. She waved to him and he jogged to us. "Hey Callum!" "Hey Aine!" "This is Ryan. I told you about him.", the guy nodded to me extending out his hand for me to shake which I took politely. "Ryan!", she said facing me. "Yeah?" "Are you gonna have dinner with us or go back?" "I'll be leaving in a while." "Then you should go back to hotel. I think it's gonna snow. Callum will take me home. We're going the same way." I lightly nodded, not really wanting to go away from her. "Alright.", she smiled at me before walking away. I stared at her disappearing form until she vanished from my sight. What was it? Whatever it was, it made something stir inside me. It made me feel sick. I felt uncomfortable standing there. Taking steps back, I made my way back to hotel. I needed someone to talk to. Maybe Lucca would do or maybe I'll just get drunk until I pass out. My mind was a mess. •••••••••••••••••••••••
