I was wearing sweats, since I had cancelled all the meetings for today. It's been so long since I last had a holiday. It wasn't too cold but still cold. So I was wearing my dark brown knee-length overcoat. I rarely have the time to dress casually. Even if I travel, it's always regarding business. No trips. It was the first time in this year I had visited somewhere not regarding business. It had been eight months since I took Aine back to her home. I hadn't met her since then. I stared at her walking along the lane to her favorite cafe. The girl who was so fragile outside turns out to be such a strong person inside. I hadn't expected her to recover from all that s**t, that fast. I shook my head lightly. She was really just one of her kind. I had left one of my best men to look after her secretly. Everything has been alright for the time being. Crossing the road, I walked to her. She must be with Finn, since she doesn't go anywhere alone. But Finn wasn't anywhere to be seen. She was sitting in the corner of cafe busy in her phone. I walked to her and sat in front of her. She raised her head to look at me. I leaned back. A shreak escaped her mouth at the sudden shock. "How's everything going?" I casually asked, but she was stuck gawking at me with her mouth hung open. She flinched as I knocked at the table. "Ho- how?" She said in her breathy voice. "Relax, you're safe and I'm just here to ensure that." "B-but... you... don't need to.", she said slowly, looking down. "How's everyone? Your family?" I asked with a small smile. She rubbed her nape in nervousness. "Everyone's pretty fine.", her voice was as low as always. I lightly nodded. "How's Finn?", I asked gesturing to the waitress who stood two tables away. "Huh? Ah- um- fine." "I don't see him here." "Oh- uh he- he had a match- um- football match." "Ahm.", I again nodded lightly while glancing at her. The lady stood by our table. I diverted my attention back to Aine after placing our orders. An espresso with less sugar for me and a hot cocoa for her. Crossing my arms on my chest, I leaned back in my chair. "How's school?" "Uh- good.", I nodded again. And there was all silence until the same lady arrived with our orders. I quietly sipped my coffee while glancing at her from time to time. We just sat there silently until my phone buzzed. I had to go back after all. "Take care.", I stood up after I finished my coffee giving her a last glance before I left. •••••••••••••••••••••••• I let my head rest on the staring wheel just as I entered my car. Italians have been such a pain in ass last two month. I had left mafia for good. The least I would ever want is to follow the same path as my ancestors. But with Italians, constantly trying to gain power in Kazan too and their constant threats to get our land, I was getting tired. I needed a break but I don't think Italians are ready for that. Aine. It's been almost an year since we last met. I wanted to go see her. I was tired of all the s**t going here. I sighed at my helplessness, rubbing my temple. ••••••••••••••••••••••••• I walked to Aine, as she stood by Finn, with my hands tucked in the pockets of my overcoat. I walked to them slowly. Finn waved his hand at me as soon as he spotted me. I gave him a small smile. He extended his hand for me to shake, just as I reached them. I looked down at Aine who was holding his other hand. She was in a furry white sweater with a red scarf wrapped around her neck while her shoulder length hair were untied. She looked so small standing with us. I was 6'1. I admit I was pretty tall but she was... small, maybe a bit too much. I tilted my head smiling as I glanced down at her while she looked up at me with doe eyes. "What's your height kiddo?" "5'0", she replied slowly, While I smiled in return. I looked at Finn. "How's everything going?" "Pretty much fine.", he said with a smile plastered on his face. I nodded smiling. "Would you have dinner with us?" "Uh- um alright.", he squealed happily. He was just a male version of Aine. But a talkative one. A very talkative one. I doubt I've met someone so talkative. From what I remember, he was in highschool. Finn walked forward, guiding me to their house, while protectively holding Aine close. I just smiled. Rowan and I... we might have been like that too... if only we didn't have to go through all that s**t in our childhood... maybe. ••••••••••••••••••••••
