Not Guilty

I wake a up to a loud banging on my new bedroom door. I look around trying to figure out where I was, the previous days events flooding back to me reigniting my anger. I had stayed up far too late in my office, trying to avoid going to bed knowing that I was no longer welcome in the room that had been an escape for me for the past three years; a place where I wasn’t the Luna and Tristan wasn’t the Alpha. We were just mates being together. Another round of banging pulls me from my thoughts as I get up and pull a robe around my body. “Yes, come in?” I holler. Tristan barges in with his Beta, Troy, and Philip behind him as well as two guards. Tristan looks at me with disgust while Troy and especially Philip look at me with pity. “Roselyn Gregor, former Luna of the Crescent Blood pack, you are under arrest for murder.” Time seemed to slow down as Tristan motions for the guards to arrest me. I was in far too much of a shock to protest and my legs fail me as I am quite literally dragged down to the dungeon and put into a cell. The guards were quiet but gentle as they placed me on the metallic slat that had a singular thin blanket covering it. Neither one would meet my eye when I silently whispered, “Why?” The close their eyes and turned to walk out of the cell leaving me in the cold darkness despite me knowing it was a warm and bright morning. ——— After a few hours alone I hear a door closing and locking from upstairs. I know exactly who it is by his delicious honey wood fire smell. My heart races in fear but also in excitement all while I curse the mate bond. A mate would never treat us like this. Amethyst, my wolf, growls grumbles back at me. That’s the first thing you’re going to say to me since all this has happened? I wanted to be mad at her but it wasn’t HER mate who betrayed us. Lance in fact had been fighting it. No, it was MY mate that did this and I knew it. Before she could respond, Tristan was at my cell. His eyes are laced with amusement as if he had me right where he wanted me. “Well well well little Luna, looks like you got yourself in trouble.” I stare daggers at him, wishing looks could maim someone, “I have no idea what happened or why you put me here. I was in my office until three this morning. Avoiding you.” I put a special emphasis behind me words hoping that they would have even the smallest effect on him. They didn’t. “Oh, I know exactly what you were doing all night. Don’t mistake that. But does anyone else know what you were doing?” He raises an eyebrow at me. “Well Gamma Philip stopped by around 11pm to see me but after that there was no one…” There seemed to be a glint of jealousy in his eyes when I mentioned Philip but it was quickly gone. “Perfect.” He sneered before briskly walking away. My stomach filled with dread. He was planning something and I knew it was bad.
