  The sight of my mother’s battered body laying on the floor of the dungeon would forever be in my head. She was almost unrecognizable, but I still knew that it was her. The fact that Micah threatened to kill her if I ever tried to escape made me even angrier, but there was nothing I could do. I had to keep my mother safe.   Micah and I were on a horse that would take us to the High mountain since it was a long journey and walking there would take up to two weeks.
