Lost in thoughts about Master Alex, I couldn’t fall asleep until morning. When I woke up, I immediately jumped out of bed. The sun was shining so brightly. What time is it? I thought. It must already be noon. Could I really have slept that long? The clock read 12:17. After getting myself ready, I went downstairs to the living room. One of the maids—a very young girl—asked me what I wished for. Questions like that made me feel like a princess here. They cooked all my favorite dishes, served me coffee, and brought me anything I wanted. The weather was wonderful that day, and I spent the entire afternoon in the garden, reading a book and basking in the sun.
