The moment I opened my eyes in the morning, the thought hit me instantly—as if it had been waiting. The last day. I lay still for a few seconds. Then I got up. I was certain that today I had to do something. What exactly—I didn’t know. But I couldn’t stay silent and wait anymore. He was already gone. Of course. My stomach ached with anxiety—dull, persistent—and I barely touched my breakfast. Lucille watched me in silence, then quietly asked how I was feeling. I told her I was fine. She didn’t believe me—I could see it in her face—but she didn’t press. Master Alex wasn’t home all day. He didn’t come to dinner. I sat alone at the table, staring at his empty seat, thinking that this was how it would all end. Quietly. Without explanations. Tomorrow morning, I simply wouldn’t be here
