Chapter 2 Kitka looked at her, noticed the knuckles on her hands were white as she clenched them together. "Were you both living here?" he asked, baffled by the situation. The house didn't seem big enough for one, let alone two. "No." She hesitated and glanced over her shoulder at the evidence team coming down the trail. Mary was with them. Kitka saw her glance, guessed at her reluctance to talk with so many people on their way. He waited until the evidence team was inside working. Kitka gestured the team commander over.
