Chapter Four Madison knew she was attractive. But only because her mother had been beautiful. Lois Gray had been second runner-up in a Miss America pageant before she’d gotten married. When looking at old photographs of her mother, Madison saw shades of her own profile. Artfully applied makeup and tailored clothing helped color in the lines to round out her appearance.
