The Night Club

513 Words
Palak walked into the night club. The black wave hair of the wig she was wearing bounced against the golden olive skin of her back.  The wig reminded her of the way her hair was when she first met Katie, back when they were in school together, back when Palak was naïve.  Both of Palak’s parents were Turned.  Her Mother was Scottish and came from a long line of Turned. People said that they were of Turned royal blood, some even thought that her blood line could be traced back to the first Turnings, to the story of a beautiful prince who was kissed by a fairy, creating the first ever Turned. Of course, this was only a story.  Her Father was from India and was a newly turned.  Her Mother had fallen in love with him at first sight.  Palak’s upbringing had  been very sheltered really and she had not been aware of the real workings of their world until she started working as a tracer. Palak walked over to a group of people sitting on a couch.  The criss-crossing straps of her silk fuchsia pink dress caught the lights of the club highlighting the skin of her back and immediately caused unwanted attention from another group of men.  Palak finished talking to the first group before turning and walking confidently up to the group of rowdy men.  She zoned into the alpha male.  A blond-haired man who appeared to be in his early 20s with slight stubble.  His smug look was quickly replaced with worry as he realised who the woman was. She approached him from behind leaning over the back of the couch and slapped him on the cheek. She then kissed his cheek and then whispered, “If you weren’t so dam cute, you would be getting more than that little slap.  When will you learn to respect woman? Now make your apologies and meet me in the office in 30min”.  He smiled at her as if reaffirming her point that he was dam cute. Palak walked off, heading towards a set of stairs. The man turned to watch her go. He watched as she lifted her dress slightly so as not to trip on the stairs as she gracefully ascended them.  She was a goddess and he was under her spell. He returned to his drink and continued the conversation briefly before making an excuse to leave his party.  He quickly ascended the stairs hungry to be in Palak’s presence again.  He took a few deep breaths and covered his eagerness before he opened the office door.  “What brings you to a lowly Hunter, Palak?” “I have a Tracer Contract, a man moonlighting as a Marginer” “A Marginer, that seems like a basic case for someone of your skill level”  “Well I think there is a lot more to do with it.  I think someone has been helping this Marginer to evade justice and I think it has been happening for some time.  I trust you Justin and that is why I am sharing this with you, don’t let me regret it ”
