Tracker Contract

The phone rang. Katie answered it. "I sensed you needed me," a familiar voice said. "Palak, you have no idea how much I need you right now" "Can you tell me over the phone or do you want me to meet you?" "Not over the phone. I may have a job for you. Are you in the UK?" "Yes, I'm in Glasgow just now." "Can you come to the Academy?"   "Sure no prob. Be there soon." Katie made herself a cup of tea and sat down on her brown leather couch.  She tucked her legs up and pulled the red fleece around herself.  She slowly drank her tea as she thought....it had been a long time since her own turning, but Sarah's memory had triggered her own memories and she was struggling to stop thinking about it.  She decided to try one of the relaxation techniques that she spent so much of her time teaching patients back in Riverside. She slid her head down onto the soft arm rest of the couch and stretched her legs out.  Next she focused on her own breathing, on the way her breath felt as it passed through her nostrils - she followed that sensation as far as she could. Then she followed her breath as it came back out.  The technique must have worked as the next thing she knew, she was awoken by a knock at her door.  She groggily went to answer it.  Standing there was Palak.  She had cut her long black hair into a pixie cut and the tips were died blue. "Long time no see, Deedee". "Oh, Palak, it is so good to see you," Katie said pulling Palak into a tight hug, "Have I taken you away from anything important?" "Nothing I cant pick up at any point. Now tell me what's going on?" "Lets sit". Katie sat back down on the couch and pulled the blanket back over her legs. Palak sat across from her. "So, tell me how can I help?" "He's still out there," she paused and took a deep breath, "I'm treating a newly turned. I did a memory walk and it was definitely him. The smell Palak, the smell". Katie broke off....she was close to breaking down. Palak could see that. She got up from her seat and walked over to Katie. She sat down beside her and patted her knee. "They said they got him. That was 25 years ago. They said they got him Palak!" "Yea, well I'll get him for you Katie," she said angrily taking Katie's hands, "You know I'm the best at what I do, no one has every gotten away. I'll hunt him down. Now for the hard bit, I need you to take me back to when you were attacked.  I need as much detail as I can to get a good trace.  It would be best if I could also meet the girl so I can cross match the sample". "Ok" Katie said, closing her eyes, bringing them both back into when she was attacked and turned.
