Destiny Stone

Sarah arrived at lecture room three feeling refreshed. She had managed to have a good nights sleep after completing some relaxation like Katie had taught her and was eager to learn more about being Turned.  As she walked into the lecture hall, she noticed that the lady she had seen with the clip board during registration was there.  Sarah slipped onto her regular seat and took all her things out, organising herself for the lecture to start.  The rest of the student quickly filled in, including Bailey who was scarily enthusiastic.   "Did you notice? We have Professor Bremner..." Bailey was cut off by the clearing of a throat coming from the woman at the front of the lecture room who Sarah now knew was Professor Bremner. "For those of you who have not been taught by me yet, I am Professor Bremner, no relation to the other Professor Bremner of the History department," she said as she wrote her name on the black board, "now boys and girls, have you managed to read chapter 20 yet 'Origins of Testing for the Young Turned'." She was met by mostly shakes of heads apart from Violet who had clearly read the whole text twice.  Sarah had actually read the chapter but did not plan to draw any attention to it. "Mmm... ok everyone, quickly review the chapter I will give you 20 minutes" Professor Bremner said with a disappointed glare. Sarah skim read the chapter again and then started to doodle on her note pad. Professor Bremner clapped her hands bringing everyone's attention back to her. "Ok, boys and girls I have something rather special to show you," she said as she slipped black gloves onto her pale white hands.  She opened her briefcase and taking a little pink silk bag out. She pulled the ribbon and opened the bag removing a little golden stone.  She held it up high. "This is a Destiny Stone, and it is one of the ways that some gifts can be identified in Specials. Bailey can you come and take the stone." Bailey slide off her seat and walked up to the front of the lecture hall she took the stone from Professor Bremner. The stone began to glow slightly and part of Bailey's hand began to shimmer. "And we have our first Special," Professor Bremner announced grabbing Bailey's hand and proudly raising it high, "Now don't worry everyone you may not be able to have such a glorious reaction and even if you don't have a reaction, it doesn't mean you will not be a Special, the stone does not show all gifts. Ok Bailey, please begin to pass the stone." Bailey walked over to Violet and gave her the stone.  The stone turned back to it's original colour on leaving Bailey's had.  Violet held the stone expectantly, but nothing happened.  She looked disappointed and Professor Bremner picked up on this. "Don't worry my dear, it doesn't mean you are not a special, now tell me do you feel anything different? Or did something come into your head when the stone first touch you?" Violet was close to tears by this point and could only manage a quiet "No". "Well Bailey take the stone back and pass it to the next student we don't have all day." Bailey took the stone with an apologetic look, the stone began to glow again and Bailey's hand shimmered. Bailey passed the stone to Sarah.  The stone continued to glow, but there was no outward change to Sarah. "Oh, wonderful Professor Bremner said bring the classes attention back to her again" She walked closer to Sarah, "Now my dear, what came into your head the minute you touched the stone." "Mmm..." Sarah said as she thought, "well a picture of a waterfall came into my head, there were trees everywhere." "Oh wonderful, you had a vision of Fairy glen I would say, Bailey pass the stone to the next student." Bailey collected the stone and passed it to a skinny boy with blond hair, the stone did nothing. It was passed to small girl with brown hair and freckles next, the stone glowed slightly and she said the stone felt heavy in her hand. Bailey kept collecting the stone and giving it to students until everyone had held the stone. Out of all the students the stone had only reacted six times and none of the reactions had been as stunning as Bailey's. "Well boys and girls that was fun" Professor Bremner said, "Now, I suppose I have seen the impact the stone has on all of you, I should show you how it effects me."  She took of her gloves and picked the stone up from Bailey's hand. The stone glowed bright and Professor Bremner's feet literally left the ground.  She floated there suspended in the air at least a foot from the floor. "Now, Bailey dear if you would kindly take the stone back my dear I would be ever so grateful." Bailey took the stone back and placed it into the little pink bag and Professor Bremner return to the ground with pure grace.
