A breakup was a breakup, but even if the sky was falling, I still had to show up for work. The first few days back were awkward, no way around it. I had to see Shay every single day, after all. But once I noticed her eyes didn't linger on me anymore, I made my peace with it. ***** Today I finally made it to lunch, and I was the first one out the door toward the cafeteria. Same as I'd always been, going back to my school days. The second it hit mealtime, you could count on seeing me run. The second I walked in, I spotted Shay and her whole team. Milo was there too, of course. And he was sitting right next to Shay, who was loading up his plate for him. The smile on her face was so plain that nobody on her team dared breathe too loud.
