She Noticed Me.

286 Words
The first few days passed quietly. Then the first week. Then another. Nothing really changed. I attended my classes, took notes when I needed to, and spent most of my free time writing songs. Writing was one of the few things I actually enjoyed. Whenever I couldn't say something out loud, I wrote it down. Sometimes I didn't even know what the songs meant. I just wrote. It was easier that way. Nobody interrupted a notebook. Nobody asked questions. Nobody looked at me expecting an explanation. But there was one thing I couldn't ignore. Her. Catherine is the name. I noticed her during one of my usual moments of pretending to be busy with my notebook. She was sitting across the classroom, talking with her friends. She smiled. It was a simple smile, but somehow, I noticed it. I looked back down at my notebook. A few minutes later, I glanced up again. She was looking at me. Our eyes met. She smiled. I immediately looked away. I wasn't sure why. Maybe I wasn't used to being noticed. The strange thing was that she kept doing it. Every few days, I'd catch her looking at me. Sometimes she'd smile. Sometimes she'd just stare for a few seconds before turning away. I couldn't understand it. What was she so curious about? I was just the quiet boy who sat at the back of the class, wrote songs during break and barely spoke to anyone. There was nothing interesting about me. At least, that's what I thought. But somehow, she seemed determined to find out. And for the first time since I arrived at that school, I began to wonder if maybe... someone actually wanted to know me.
