A Journey to Adulthood

Chapter 4

The next day started with the usual, the normal ringing of my alarm, my mum calling me down to eat breakfast, Jeff dropping me off at school and the normal teasing at the front of the school building but what I didn’t expect was to see the Angelixirs but though not the bitches but just the boys. These boys are regarded as the heirs of the future of the leading global conglomerates that will lead Country S into great and surpassing economic ventures in the world and bring about international treaties with the major world powers. I am really jealous of them they get to play a great role in the country and are important figures, but I do not envy their life because they got a lot in their plates now. That is all about them now, but I have a very bad feeling seeing them in front of the building of our block because I feel there is trouble lurking around the corner.

But I didn’t really read into it because literally such people can’t be troubled about my presence. So I just passed beside where they were standing, not really bothering about their existence, but what I didn’t expect was to hear my name coming from the group of boys. I wanted to literally ignore the call and will myself that they may be another b***h answering the same first name as me but then the next call shocked me,

“Maya Anderson Stranford, isn’t that your name” said someone standing just above the step I stood on. I was shocked and speechless because if I remembered vividly well the path up the steps I took was empty and free from glued human beings moping at the Greek guys who literally for the first time graced this block with their presence. I looked up and stared at the guy who had stood at the top of the stairs I was climbing up to. I won’t lie he is charming and like the rumours, he fixates and captivates anyone that places their eyes on him. With his long locks that cascades down his face to his shoulder blades that is styled with hair clips that are beautifully crafted, to his charming blue eyes that drowns me into the depth of the ocean and calms my palpitating heart and his nose that is broad and well defined and his pink lips that when he smiles brings out his slight dimples, “Hey, you have been staring at me for a while now, you can stop now, I know the charm I have on people” and he smirks showing of his pointed canines. Down to earth Maya, disgusting piece of s**t I mumbled, as I push him out from my way as I make my way up the stairs to my first class. Uhhh it is annoying when you are admiring someone’s beauty and then the person uses their fowl tongue to just scatter your thoughts.

“She didn’t even answer us when we called her, and she really snubbed me and is acting offended when I am meant to be the one to take offence, she was literally staring at me for a long time and it was creepy.” Said Jayden ‘yeah I kind of like this girl, I am sure Demain is having a tough time trying to woo her over’ said George. “Speaking of Demain has anyone heard from him today; it is unlike him not to be in school by this time, except he is being held by the old man again.”

Today was going as usual the normal classes then lunch time, where we head to the cafeteria and then when the bell rings head to our next class in our schedule. But for a reason today felt calm and uneventful, like there are meant to be a sort of drama but nothing out of the usual. But still I am grateful for a peaceful school day at least I don’t have to deal with some dimwit during the day and also no Demain during the day, which is good for my mental health.

“I am home, if any one need me I will be up in my room.” As I enter into my room I finally feel my nerves loosen up, sometimes going to school usually kicks in my anxiety and puts me on edge on what is going to transpire during the day. That is why I appreciate any time I get home and into my room because with time, it became my safe haven away from any sort of drama. “I think I am gonna go for a run” as I make my way towards my window and open up the curtain, I didn’t know the weather was this beautiful, I wouldn’t have wasted such an amazing sight. I walk to my wardrobe and bring out a jogger and a matching hoodie, I put it on and also my sneakers, then I pick up my headset and phone, connects the headset to my phone and tuck my phone into my hoodie pocket while I make my way out of my room. “I am going out will be back in the evening” as I make my way towards the door, Jerry says “Hey May on your way back, do stop at the supermarket and get me some groceries.” ‘What about money? You know I don’t have cash on me.’ Then he comes out of the kitchen and hands me 5 dollar, I then put the money into my hoodie pocket and exit the house. While outside, I wear my headphones, click on my favourite playlist, increase the volume of the headphones, and start jogging, making my way across the blocks.

Any time I go for a run, I love to follow through the forest path because one I love the scenery and the quietness and being surrounded by nature calms me and also because of a stream that is within the forest and is hidden from people, which allows me to swim a few laps without being bothered of someone seeing me in my underwear, because they don’t frequent this part of the forest because of occurrences of wild animals.
