Chapter Seventeen
Seven pm it said on the invite and surprisingly the first guests arrived on the dot. Mai escorted a couple who were closely followed by a crawling male slave across the lawn towards Lesley. I decided to watch until Lesley was ready to introduce me. I heard Mai introduce Colonel such and such and Lady whatever to Lesley. Then she turned away and literally scurried back to her room, leaving them in the capable hands of Lesley.
