Reincarnation

Within a blink, Max thought about what his great-grandfather had just said and he knew there must certainly be rules when spending the money or rather he could just purchase a mansion and pay the sum of $50 billion for it and burn it to the ground. But before Max could finish thinking, Daniel in the video suddenly said, "Of course there will be rules." "I knew it!" Max mumbled under his breath as he slowly adjusted himself in the chair he was sitting in. He watched Daniel for a while as he tried to think what he would say next. "The first rule, you must not have any assets left after the one month period. You must have finished spending all the money and must not have any assets left," Daniel said as he coughed again and wiped some blood off of his lip with his handkerchief. "And the second rule," Daniel added,"You must not hire more than two hundred employees and must not over pay them. Their pay should be proportional to the service they render. I know what you are thinking Maxie, you are thinking of buying an expensive paintings and burning in down, well the third rule is that you must not destroy any property you acquire." Finally," Daniel paused for a moment, seeming to pause his speech, "No one except you must know about this test and the rules given. You automatically failed the test if anyone ever knows!" Max stared back at the video with wide eyed astonishment and then looked back up at David. David was not surprised but only gestured to Max to focus back on the video. "I know you might not be up to the task," David said, "So, I added a coward clause; Take $20 million and forget about the $900 billion or spend $50 billion within a month to win or lose the $900 billion." Daniel's voice trailed off as he stretched his last sentence and the video gradually went dim until the screen went black. As soon as the video stopped moving, David picked up the remote control and turned it off. Max watched him silently for a few moments as he processed what the man had just told him before finally saying:"What? Are you serious? That doesn't make sense! Why am I supposed to waste $50 billion just because I was to pass a test?!" David chuckled,"Calm down, Max. As far as I'm concerned, $20 million isn't such a bad price, you can take the $20 million and leave and won't have to waste your time trying to get the bigger prize." he reassured Max, watching how Max glared at him in response. A loud groan escaped Max's lips as he rubbed his temples in frustration. "If I take the $20 million, what happens to the $900 billion?" "It goes to charity!"" And that's the end of the matter," David answered. He reached out his right hand, pulled something off the desk, and handed it to Max. Max took the item and examined it. It was a $20 million check and Max stared at the boldy written words on the check in awe. After a moment he raised his gaze to look back at the man, staring at the check without any sort of emotion on his face. "Thank you." Max said quietly, handing the check paper back to David, "I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not a coward. I choose to spend $50 billion within a month!"David was surprised, he never thought Max could take up the challenge and he immediately realized he had underestimated Max or rather Max was been foolish._Max was confident has he signed the contract to spend $50 billion dollars within a month, but now, he was feeling the opposite a he was about to jump down the hotel roof where he had caught his best friend and his girlfriend having sex.Max stood at the edge of the building watching the people on the street, walking around happily and laughing. It was late on the evening of a weekend and the city was busy with couples going home together after a day of fun or just walking to their favorite café after work. He had his eye shut as he stretched his left leg off the building and the other leg still planted firmly onto the ledge as he waited for the next jump. His breathing quickened slightly as he felt the pressure from his toes pressing against the wall beneath his feet. He clenched his jaws tightly and opened his eyes. He held the contract paper carefully in his hand as he looked down at the crowd below. Then, without warning, a gust of wind swept past his face making him close his eyes again instantly. He tightened his hold on the paper until it was crushed. He sighed and then reopened his eyes as his heart started beating faster. After closing his eyes for a minute he opened them again and glanced downwards once more. His heartbeat increased as he slowly brought the paper closer to his face, holding his breath as he read what was written on it. He slowly inhaled deeply as he slowly let go of the paper, the crisp crisp sound of air passing through the paper filled his ears. When he heard that there was no movement coming from it anymore he looked down, his heart was pounding loudly in his chest and he couldn't help the large smile that spread across his lips. "Holy s**t!!" he shouted excitedly as he jumped down from the building, and with a loud tumb, he landed on the ground with his skull bashed and his crushed brain exposed._Gently Max opened his eyes to find himself in a room which seemed familiar has ever, all he could remember was jumping off a High rise building and he has died in the process. Slowly he lifted his arms, expecting them to be shackled behind his back but instead saw them free and unshackled as he looked around the small space. The walls were cream coloured and he could see a wooden table sitting in the corner and a small sofa facing a flat screen tv with the top half missing. There was also a wardrobe at the back. He sat up slowly and placed his head in his hands as memories from last night slowly came flooding back into his mind. After a couple minutes the door opened and a pretty blonde girl entered the room. She wore ripped blue jeans and her long black hair cascaded down her bare back and was tied into a high ponytail. It was the same woman Max has seen before and it seems the same scenario was replaying itself. "How are you feeling?" The woman asked. "Good.." Max stammered, trying to understand all what's going on. He could not help but stare around the room and thinking maybe he was already in heaven. Max watched as the woman approached and took the glass of water from the nearby table and held it out towards him. The woman looked concerned, "Drink slowly, don't rush it, it won't make you better." These were the same words the woman said the day before and Max was beginning to feel uncomfortable thinking maybe he was reincarnated. Max did not take the water from her. Instead he got up abruptly from the bed and backed up quickly away from the glass. The woman was startled by his abrupt movements and she stared at him in shock but quickly regained her composure and calmly placed the glass down onto the table. But before the woman could say any more words, a man mostly in his early thirties stormed into the room and approached them and said," Michonne, Mr. Hartman said you could bring him now if he's awake," the man said nervously, clearly anxious. Michonne gave him a nod but before the man could leave the room, Max asked, "What's today? The man glanced at Max and stared at him surprisingly before answering, "Today is 14th of February!" Max was startled immediately, he quickly realize that he has been reincarnated and had escaped death, and the thought of being reincarnated made him incredibly nervous, he began to panic internally but tried to stop it from showing as he tried to calm himself down as best as he could by taking slow deep breaths. Max closed his eyes and attempted to think about something else. When he snapped them open once again, and the thought of being reincarnated made him incredibly nervous, he began to panic internally but tried to stop it from showing as he tried to calm himself down as best as he could by taking slow deep breaths. Max closed his eyes and attempted to think maybe it was all just a dream or what he's meant to see during the death process. When he snapped his eye open once again, things were not different and Michonne and the man standing beside her only stared at him surprisingly. Suddenly, Max wore a grin on his face as he was reincarnated back to the point where was to be made to sign the $50 billion contract. To fix his mistakes, Max decided to accept the $20 million coward deal and leave the $900 billion, but a second thought changed his choice as he sought revenge from all those who had wronged him in his previous life, especially his girlfriend Jane and his best friend Max. Max decided to play the $50 billion game deal once more. But this time, only to get revenge from everyone who had wronged him in his previous life.
