Silent Abduction

CHAPTER TWO - 2 -

- Desperate Search -

One day, Nicole arrived later than usual. Michel and her husband were getting ready to go to work. The baby was asleep, and Michel assured herself that Nicole, the nanny, knew her job. They left without calling Nicole, something they never did. Michel was engrossed in her work throughout the day, and in the evening, without making her usual call, she left for home. When she arrived, she found the house locked

I went directly to the boy's room; he wasn't in his bed. I called for Nicole, but there was no answer. Nicole never left the house; her sole job was to take care of the child. Michelle was overcome with great concern. She called her husband and told him she couldn't find Nicole and the child in the house. Adrian didn't delay in arriving, finding her in tears. He tried to comfort her. Michelle didn't know Nicole's address; she had no refuge except for a lady responsible for bringing in services. Michelle hadn't contacted her before. She told them she didn't know Nicole's whereabouts and had come on the recommendation of a service.

Adrian was ready to waste no more time and went to the police station. They were received by the commander, and they registered their statement. He assured them he would expedite finding the boy and Nicole within hours.

That day passed without any trace of Nicole or the boy. Adrian and Michelle were summoned to the police station. Adrian had a picture of Gabriel and also a copy of Nicole's ID, a copy she had given to Michelle. However, the investigation into the card owner revealed that she claimed to have lost her ID three months ago and had obtained a replacement. The replacement wasn't under the name Nicole.

The police's work didn't stop there. The head of the department assigned Captain Isabelle to go to the psychiatric hospital and extract Michelle from her silence. She obtained additional information about the woman who abducted the boy. Isabelle had to visit Michelle in the psychiatric hospital more than once before she could reassure her. Michelle informed her that the woman had told her she had been married several times, always ending in divorce because she was barren. Michelle was surprised that the woman, with good educational levels, chose to work as a nanny instead of seeking other employment.

After Michelle represented herself to heal, Adrian learned from her that the one who took the boy knew the vaccination schedule that shouldn't be missed. It became clear to Adrian and Michelle that this woman's love for the boy meant she would appear in one of the health centers. So they went on a tour of all the health centers in Paris. Adrian posted a picture of his child in several newspapers, sought help from different radio and TV programs, and explored all possible avenues

A whole year passed without a trace of the boy or the blonde nanny who claimed her name was Nicole. Michelle and Adrian, however, didn't lose hope, sensing that Gabriel would return to them.

Police investigations hit a dead end, but they discovered that the woman's motive for the kidnapping was her thirst for motherhood. This led her to accept the job as a nanny for Michelle and her husband
