POV : Jasmine's Late night urgent call

1014 Words
As they arrived home, it was late. The maids took Levy to his room. Hillary received a phone call from her best friend, Jasmine. Jasmine’s voice was shaky and nervous. "Hillary… I… I have something to confess… Can you… go to my condo?" Hillary looked at Zion. "Can I borrow your car? Just for now." Zion’s response was curt. "Why would I? It's not like we're close." Hillary pleaded, "It's urgent, Zion. Just for now. I owe you one." Zion relented, tossing her the keys nonchalantly before returning to his room. Hillary drove to Jasmine's condo. Jasmine opened the door, relief etched on her face. "Hillary, you're here already. Thank you," Jasmine whispered. "Don't thank me," Hillary replied. "This is what friends do. What happened?" Jasmine gestured for her to enter. Xavier was on the couch, packing his things. Hillary was immediately suspicious. "Xavier? Why are you here? Do you know Jasmine? You both just met last night, right?" Jasmine urged, "Hillary, please sit first." Hillary sat opposite Xavier. "What is happening? Can someone please explain?" Jasmine sat beside Xavier; their closeness was undeniable. Xavier addressed Jasmine smoothly, "Baby, why don't you tell your friend everything?" Hillary was shocked, her jaw dropping. "Baby?! What the f***? Where did that come from?" Jasmine took a deep breath. "Actually… Xavier and I have been dating for five years." Hillary’s eyes widened. "You, a notorious playboy, are dating my best friend? But Xavier, aren't you engaged to Kayla Louis, from the Louis family?" Xavier explained calmly, "That's why we've kept our relationship hidden. Because of my engagement. And I'm not a player; I was just being playful, okay? I love your best friend, Jasmine." He held Jasmine's waist protectively. Jasmine added, "Although our Williams family is wealthy, you know the importance of strategic alliances." Hillary took a sip of water, processing the information. "You, Xavier, what are you planning? If you're planning on making my best friend your mistress and marrying your fiancée, I'll definitely have you hospitalized." Xavier looked at her earnestly. "Hillary, don't worry. I would never do that. I just don't know what to do yet… but I will break off my engagement. I swear." Hillary hugged Jasmine. "Just remember, I'm always here for you, Jas. And you, Xavier, don't even think about deceiving my best friend, or face my consequences. I'll make your company bankrupt." Xavier smiled reassuringly. "I won't. I love your best friend so much; I can't live without her." Hillary admitted, "Although I don't believe in love. For me, all I ever wanted was to make my parents proud." Jasmine squeezed Hillary's hand. "Hillary, if you ever find someone you want to love and need to break off an engagement, I will help you. I swear to you." "Thank you," Hillary whispered, feeling a warmth spread through her. Xavier grabbed his coat. "Hillary, you can stay here tonight if you want. I still have to prepare for the party tomorrow." Hillary recognized the event. "You mean the Smith family party, for the old man's 60th birthday?" Xavier nodded. "Yes. You know about that, too?" "I do," Hillary replied. "Mr. Smith is close to me. I was always at their estate when I was younger; our families are close. I also received an invitation a month ago, when I was abroad." Xavier smiled. "Well, then you better pick a gift already." "I already did," Hillary confirmed. Xavier kissed Jasmine before leaving. The goodbye was tender, but the awkwardness was palpable for Hillary, witnessing her best friend with someone like Xavier. "Bye, bebe," Xavier said to Jasmine. "I'll go now. See you at the party tomorrow." After he left, Hillary turned to Jasmine. "You're going to the party tomorrow?" Jasmine nodded. "I will. As the young lady of our Williams family." Hillary smiled. "That's great to hear. Maybe I'll go there with you. You know, I'm considering what Xavier said about staying here for the night… Can you lend me your nightgown?" Jasmine grinned. "Sure." Hillary changed into Jasmine's white nightgown. They shared the bed, hugging each other as they fell asleep. Jasmine murmured sleepily, "We better go shopping tomorrow to buy clothes for the party. I want to look beautiful." Hillary chuckled softly. "Of course you will. You'll beat that Kayla." Jasmine squeezed her hand. "I know I will. And you will too." The night was long and cold. Hillary slept soundly, oblivious to the numerous calls from her brother, Weston, eldest son of the Morgan family. Waking, she saw the missed calls and then the doorbell rang. Jasmine woke, rubbing her eyes. "Who's that? This early in the morning…" Hillary, still nestled in bed, watched as Jasmine opened the door to reveal a frantic Weston, immediately beginning a search of the apartment. "I tracked Hillary's phone here," he explained urgently. "Did she leave her phone here? You're her friend, right?" Jasmine, curious about Weston's anxiety, replied, "She's in my room." Weston rushed in, finding Hillary still in bed. He pulled back the covers, his worry evident. "Why didn't you answer my calls last night?" he asked, his voice a mix of relief and exasperation. "I thought something bad had happened! I didn't sleep all night trying to find you. You're already a pain in my head the moment I arrived in London. If you continue being stubborn, I'll send you back abroad." Weston smack her with brotherly intention. Hillary, rubbing the back of her head, her hair messy, replied, "Brother… when did you arrive? You should've told me so I could pick you up at the airport." Weston, still slightly exasperated but clearly relieved, said, "Go change your clothes; we're leaving. You should have already bought a dress for the party. I reminded you nonstop yesterday, yet you were so confident everything would be okay. Now what? You still didn't prepare anything?" Hillary, ever nonchalant, responded, "Brother… just go with the flow…" Weston sighed, a mix of exasperation and affection in his tone. "You kid… change clothes. I'll wait outside in the car." Hillary mumbled, "Yeah… yeah… okay, I will."
