DAMIEN The cool morning air brushed against my face as I made my way out of the mansion. As I approached the driveway, I spotted Nicho standing near the garden, his presence almost startling. Nicho was leaning casually against the low stone wall, with his eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses. I could feel the tension between us. We were only a few steps apart, yet the distance between us felt much greater. My pace didn’t reduce as I drew closer. I kept my gaze straight ahead, not allowing my eyes to linger on Nicho. My heart, however, betrayed me, beating a little faster as I passed by. Fuck! I hated this. I had expected Nicho to say something, perhaps a sarcastic remark or a cutting comment, but to my surprise, Nicho remained silent, his expression unreadable beneath the sunglasses.
