Chapter 14Jase waved to Garrett, then he turned and walked into the house. His body was heavy, making his movements sluggish. He scrubbed his eyes with his palms, wishing he could scrub the day away. All he could do lately was let people down—first, Andrew, and now Garrett. Jase hadn’t missed the frown that flashed across Garrett’s face when Jase announced his going home alone was a better idea than them continuing to write. Garrett had tried to hide it, but he was too slow. Jase trudged into the kitchen to fetch some water. His headache was back, and with all the thoughts swarming his brain, it promised to get worse. Add on the alcohol he ingested, and he was truly screwed. What had he been thinking? In the great room, he flopped on the sofa, leaned his head back, and closed his eyes. H
