Chapter 17

2707 Words

Seventeen Packing up for a djinn was not quite the same thing as it was for a human, for all it required was for him to send their things over to their new location. Malik had already decided on the house where they would go; it was a few streets away from Fatima’s palatial home, and had a waterfall and pond in addition to the swimming pool and spa. Not the same as the ocean, true, but he hoped Leila would be happy there. At any rate, it was the work of an eye blink to manage the transfer of their belongings. And this house — it showed no trace of their ever being here, for he had done nothing to change the furniture or anything else. Well, except for one thing. As Leila watched, he went to the fireplace and carefully lifted her cowrie shell from the mantel, then brought it over to her.
