Malik watched her walk away and made no move to stop her. Somehow he knew that if he did not give her this time now, she would never come to a place where she would accept him. It was difficult, for every vein in his body seemed to pulse with need for her, but he made himself go inside the house. If she caught a glimpse of him watching her when she thought she was supposed to be alone, she would never forgive him. After all, hadn’t he just told her that she was safe here? What reason would he have for observing her, unless it was to protect her from some kind of danger?
