A Mission of Lies

1066 Words
In the future, Riam Corin and his wife, Annie Corin stood beside eachother in a chamber watching over a room they used to teleport Anua to where she currently resides. Annie was quiet, glancing to the side occasionally as she felt him tense beside her, like there was a silent question floating around them, not answered, but needing to be spoken. "We should of sent someone else." Riam spoke suddenly, catching Annie's attention and having her only response be a confused, "Wha..?" as she collected herself in who they should have sent, or what his mind was focused on. "That girl, Anua, we should of sent someone else to do this task." He said again, a bit more determined, almost like the first time was him questioning himself too. "We all decided on sending her, even Lisa." Annie spoke, trying to be reasonable, remembering how difficult some of the trials were, even strict Lisa was on the contestants during the whole trial to discover a good candidate. Riam gave a heavy sigh, and looked over the area, they still had other candidates who were second to being able to go for reasons, but did not fit the exact criteria needed. Riam saw his choice was a general looking man, whom had a strong appearance and was also head of many leading channels that are being at the forefront of what made the current society rather strong. "Why wasn't this guy chosen? He is a strong leader, capable of negotiation with different people and handling different environments..." He muttered to himself, deep in thought as he tried to query over why, but felt there was very little reason to not choose a person who was an actual leader type. Although Annie was fond of an older woman that, had the appearance of a mother and looked like she could either be carrying another child, or be indulging in food to handle some things in life. Annie never really felt it necessary to go into the candidates personal life, but Riam felt good to indulge his wife's choice by putting the two as a team if the opportunity ever arose. Aaron Barker and Lisa were out handling other studies, since they needed to take in the current environment and how the change of a time traveler could affect the future, or current time they were in. The changes having a single human or many could effect whether they are well off in the same time, or in poverty and in the middle of a war zone. None of the four scientists were certain on how the time travel will effect things, but felt if nothing changed, life would not continue on a positive note. ~~~~~~ Lisa was working with Aaron Barker on examining different environments and places, writing about the current appearance and how everything is. Whether there could be any changes to building structures, culture designs, or how people appear in the area in the time period. "There can be changes in many things, even when a product or material was discovered, if we tinker too much with time itself, so we need to keep a firm grasp on history and everything involved with it." Lisa stated with much logic and rather critical about the task before them. Aaron was writing everything down, even the many observations before them, from how many grass fields are around them, or plantations of trees and fruit fields in the area exist currently and when they started to sprout up in the area. "We need to keep in mind that if we change history, it could cause our extinction or our flourishing in the future, if not careful." She said, critically and eyed Aaron with a look he could not decipher, but felt was a warning to take every note as if it was writing the way to make artificial oxygen or create life by mere numbers and letters. He nodded sharply, and kept writing as Lisa started focusing more on the surroundings and telling the civilians to maintain calm and not worry for the changes done in the past will be so subtle that it would of been like time changing from one second to the next, passing without notice. ~~~~~~ Back with Riam and Annie Corin, they soon decided to send their chosen candidates regardless of group agreed choices. "We will be questioned on our decisions, if discovered, so lets make this as discreet as possible and send them to where they need to go." Riam spoke, looking at Annie every now and then, almost making sure that she was on the same page with him. "Yea, Lisa and Aaron will not appreciate our choice of sending either Ruein (Ruu- In), or Scaron(Scar-on) to the past when Anua was sent." Annie, biting at her bottom lip and watching as Riam worked the keys and the coordinates to send the two choices as a team towards the Nuun group, way in the past and hoping that the people sent back, even if on at the same time can work together. Riam finished typing in the coordinates, and pressed enter to get the machine rolling, to start sending the candidates to their destination. "All we can do now is let them do what they were pushed to do." He spoke with a slightly strained smile, knowing that 'chosen' would be wrong, when none of the choices were an ideal choice to any of them at the very beginning and he hoped that doing this would stop bigger problems from occurring in the future. Annie gave out a heavy sigh and spoke softly, "We tried all we can, if we failed because of this or succeeded, we tried in the end." She felt that was all that could be said too. Even if doing something may of caused the failure, how could they know unless they see it happen before it does, but that also required seeing the future, and them as scientists acting by sending their candidates chosen were the best way to answer a problem that they could figure. The two watched the two other candidates disappear similar to Anua, through a type of door that engulfed their frames and soon no one was in the rooms of the two candidates, except for old clothes slowly falling to the ground from whence the person once stood or lied at.
