My lip quivered as I stared at Ezra. I tried to keep it together. I didn’t want to let this thing break me, but seeing just how upset he was made my eyes burn. I wanted to say something, but there were no words in my head. There were no words or explanations. There was only the feeling of my heart breaking as I saw my mate crying in front of me.
“I will make sure he pays for what he tried to do,” Ezra said, his voice cracking. He was doing his best to keep his emotions contained, but I could see the pressure of them threatening to break free.
“No one will believe me,” I whispered. I didn’t know why those were the words that spilled out of my mouth. They were the words that filled most of my thinking. “Alpha Ezra won’t want you after he finds out what happened.”
