Daniel had mentioned that Adam had spent the entire night thinking about Alina.
That little girl, he vaguely remembered, was quite beautiful, with a pair of clear, expressive eyes that seemed to speak volumes.
Stormfang Pack and Darkfang Clan were neighbors, and she always made an effort to cheer Adam up when he was feeling down.
Adam had a special fondness for her, but it was also because of Adam that Alina had disappeared. Over the years, Adam had lived with the burden of guilt.
With elegant strides, Colin approached, his voice clear and unhurried as he spoke, "Adam, Enid called again, asking what time you'll be coming over tonight. She said both families will be discussing your marriage."
Adam withdrew his gaze, casting a fleeting glance at Colin, a coldness creeping into his deep eyes as he replied icily, "A foster daughter wanting to marry me in place of Alina. Don't you find Stormfang Pack ridiculous?"
Colin answered indirectly, his tone calm and measured, "Since you don't wish to attend, I'll call them later to decline."
"Hmm." Adam's face was veiled with a layer of frostiness. He had no intention of giving in to Enid's wishes so easily. She had robbed his mother of her life and caused Alina's disappearance. One day, he would settle the score with her.
Yesterday's car accident was no coincidence. Daniel had already begun investigating. Because of this woman, he had lost so much.
Colin showed no signs of leaving.
Adam raised an eyebrow, looking slightly displeased as he regarded Colin, his tone indifferent, "Speak up if you have something!"
Colin remained composed as he spoke, "Demi said she's getting married to that man and won't be coming back. She plans to settle overseas and asked the company to find someone to replace her."
Adam's lips curled slightly, a hint of amusement twinkling in his eyes. "So, Lin Demi is serious this time, chasing after a man to get married. I've met the man, nothing special. Nonetheless, I hope Demi finds happiness. Ask her when the wedding will be. She's been with the company for three years and has brought in considerable profits. We should send her a gift."
Colin nodded in agreement, his voice warm and pleasant, "That's necessary. I mentioned Alina to her, and she said she knows Alina and admires her design philosophy. She believes Alina is fully capable of taking on the position."
Adam nodded, a strange feeling stirring in his heart at the mention of that woman.
Especially those eyes, they captivated him.
He narrowed his gleaming eyes slightly, a sly smile playing on his lips. "Fetch Alina for me. I want to have a personal conversation with her!"
It was undeniable that her vivid presentation during this morning's meeting had impressed even him.
Colin nodded and left without a word, but as he turned away, a hint of curiosity danced in his clear, moist eyes. The days ahead might be more interesting than he had anticipated.
Adam watched his graceful departure, his brow furrowing continuously. He swiftly picked up the papers on the table and tossed them at Colin's retreating figure, though they fell short of reaching him.
Such a pretentious fellow, trying to act so aloof in front of him.
Why did he speak less than even Adam himself?
As a businessman, his first consideration was his own interests. With Demi not returning, it was crucial to have someone capable for the autumn fashion exhibition.
Alina looked at Adam's scheming face and couldn't help but feel the urge to tear into him.
A cunning merchant, there's no business without cunning!
She quickly strategized in her mind. However, her sole purpose in joining Roscoe Group was for revenge!
Windham Family and Roscoe Group had been collaborating for a long time.
The thought of what happened seven years ago stabbed at her heart like needles.
This position was enough to challenge Windham Family.
Over the years, she had thoroughly investigated Windham Family's secrets, with Anthony and Fiona secretly assisting her. Given the opportunity, she would seek vengeance.
After pondering for a moment, Adam threw the problem back at her, knowing she couldn't leave this job.
Seeing Alina's gradually softened expression, Adam's lips curled into a triumphant smile.
Alina lightly bit her rosy lips, weighing her options and quickly making up her mind.
She looked at Adam, who lounged lazily, composed and relaxed, as if waiting for her response. She smiled faintly and said, "Thank you for your trust, Adam Alpha!"
Suddenly, Adam smirked mischievously, extending his elegantly proportioned hand toward Alina.
Alina also reached out and shook his hand.
Adam chuckled, "Director Alina, here's to a fruitful collaboration!"
"Pleasure to collaborate!" Alina replied politely with a smile.
But in her heart, she was already thinking about how to break the news to her three children and their mother.
Adam lowered his head, his gaze casually brushing over Alina's hand. Suddenly, a mole on the back of her hand caught his attention. His expression suddenly changed, excitement coursing through his veins.
When Alina noticed Adam's sudden change in expression, she quickly withdrew her hand.
It still retained his warmth. What was wrong with Adam all of a sudden? Was there something wrong with her hand?
She forced a smile, "Adam Alpha, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."
Without waiting for Adam's response, Alina hurriedly left the office as if fleeing.
Adam's gaze remained fixed on where Alina had been. What did Alina say?
Not a single word had registered with him.
It wasn't until Alina had left and the sound of the door closing echoed that he snapped out of his reverie.
He quickly picked up the phone on his desk and dialed Daniel's number.
Daniel was busy investigating the car accident Adam had been in yesterday. When he received Adam's call, it just so happened that he had something to tell Adam.
"Adam..."
Before he could finish speaking, Adam interrupted him.
"Daniel, immediately go and investigate Alina. I want all her information within an hour," Adam's voice was agitated and urgent.
On the other end of the line, Daniel took the phone slightly away from his ear, listening to Adam's excited tone, thinking to himself that Adam was probably having a fit.
Why would he suddenly want to investigate Alina?
"Did you hear what I said?" Adam's voice roared like a lion.
Even though Daniel wasn't physically with Adam, he couldn't help but swallow nervously.
"I... I heard you. The car has been checked. It was indeed tampered with. But the surveillance at the spot where you parked conveniently malfunctioned, of course. It must have been planned in advance..."
However, before Daniel could finish his sentence, Adam had already hung up the phone.
Daniel glared at his black screen phone, shaking his head in resignation. Adam was truly difficult to deal with.
